I heard over the weekend, through a most of the time reliable source, that the WKA Manufacturer'S Cup usually held in Jacksonville during December Kart Week won't be there this year (2001). It will be held at the track in Ocala Florida.
Anybody out there heard the same? |

I don't see that WKA has made an Official announcement but it looks to be a done deal by the website for Ocala. See for your self...

It's official by WKA.
On the WKA site they have the 2002 Schedule up.
WKA Site
Then just click the drop down box on the top right and scroll to the bottom for '02 Schedule.

Ocala is a nice track. I think it needs a lot of work before the Man. Cup. Mostly in the parking area. There will have to be something done about the grid and track exit area.
Just my opinion
Jamie
p.s. the server must be down for the track. |

We all know, nothing is official until it happens. Anything can be changed, anytime.
I just went on the WKA site and there is no mention of 2002 tracks or dates.
Lets hold tight til the Fat Lady Sings.

John,
I think the problem with WKA is that they have so many "Master Tracks"
You know one race a year will always be at Charlotte. That's a given.
If it a 4 race series, that leaves 3 lefted to be picked from. One of the 3 will be in Florida. So you have to pick either Jacksonville or Ocala. Hard choice, both great tracks in my eyes.
So you only have 2 tracks lefted. Here is a list of tracks in the midwest to choice from. Norway, South Bend, Dousman, Road America, Camden(personal favorite), and East Lansing
The last 2 races should be in the midwest. If they expand the series to 5 races total. The last 3 races should be in the midwest.
So in total you have about 6 tracks, all having "Master Track Ranking" fighting for 2 or 3 race dates. Not every track is going to get a race, but I do think they need to switch them up a little.
At least that's all my opinion.

Joe,
Thanks, I agree about the WKA site. But I'm here at school in class, bored of my butt. So was I to find it.
Also are you guys coming down to either Jacksonville or Ocala this December?

Thanks Gary:
Well I wonder what happened to the 5 race series vs. the 4. Last I heard, most everyone wanted a 5 race series. Why are we still going back to the small tracks. I understand WKA has a Master Track program, but why can't we go to the new Briggs and Stratton Motorsports Complex or Norway. Many of us are getting tired of the small old tracks. They are nice tracks, but are getting boring. |
