Hello all!

I need to pick your collective brains for some information. The topic is insurance. I would like to know what one can expect to pay for insurance as it relates to karting and karting activities. There are several areas I am interested in.

1. Personal kart & Equipment - does Homeowners Insurance cover this? If not what sort of extra expense has anyone incurred by adding a 'rider' to your exisiting Homeowners contract? What about while you are transporting to/from events? Cost? Deductible? Coverage Limits?

2. Indoor Karting Centers - Places like F1Boston, MoKart(while it was alive), Speedlab, etc. What coverages would be necessary? Cost? Deductible? Limits?

3. Karting Events - typical club races and/or sanctioned events. Cost? Deductible? Coverage Limits?

If anyone has contact names or phone numbers of agencies that might be able to provide this information I would welcome that as well. Thanks for your help...

Nick

I think I heard that Don Jonowski the founder of SKUSA is in the insurance business. I have no idea how to get a hold of him, but you might try the SKUSA office at 614-760-9540.

Just a thought

Just a quick note. Most homeowners policies will NOT cover your kart equipment. I inquired and there's not even a rider I can buy. I had a friend have his entire operation stolen and it's just gone!

I know of some people who had their trailer and karts stolen. They claimed that the motors weren't on the karts so they were partially covered. Weird but it took a lot of smooth talking to pull it off.

I did some research and found K&K offers insurance from theft, etc... But I just started this process myself (when I found out homeowners doesn't cover it!).

I can highly recommend Don and Joe Janowski at National Karting Alliance for any insurance issue. I'm sure they can either help or point you in the right direction. Call 812-378-4446 (that's in Indiana).
