SATURDAY, APRIL 5
The opening round of this year’s Snap-on Stars of Karting national championship turned its first official laps today at the Ocala Gran Prix Raceway in Ocala, Florida. Over 130 drivers filled the paddock in five classes, putting qualifying and the first two of three heat races in the books. Qualifying was tight in all of the categories and the heat racing was solid. Reigning ICC champion Gary Carlton was perfect on the day, topping qualifying before leveraging his heat race pole positions fully with a pair of dominant wins. Edward Fortier matched Carlton’s feat in Stars TaG, putting his Maranello out front in all three sessions.
