SUNDAY, JANUARY 27
Oh, yes…rain, and lots of it
Sunday dawned bright and sunny after an overnight rain storm, giving hope for another dry day of Rotax racing. While the practice and qualifying sessions were all run in dry weather, dark clouds looming in the distance during Dave’s Performance Rotax Masters qualifying became a full downpour before the session was over.
It made for a markedly different show from the Saturday events, with decidedly different results.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 26
Nope. No rain!
The first day of the Gatorz Rotax Challenge of the Americas dawned with blue skies and a shining sun for the 100+ competitors that braved Friday’s damp, cold and rainy conditions. With Florida Winter Tour owner Bill Wright handling the microphone, the first day of competition for spots to the Rotax Grand Finals and U.S. Grand Nationals went into the record books. Several faces familiar to the Gatorz Karting Cup remain at the front, but there were plenty of series newcomers mixing things up in the California sun.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 25
Anticipation is building for the first Gatorz Rotax Challenge of the Americas race, if the series fax machine is any indication. Before the pre-entry deadline on Sunday night, it had churned out nearly one hundred registration forms as drivers from Canada, Utah, Northern California and Oregon (everywhere near the west coast where it is too cold to race) are headed to Willow Springs to race against Southern California’s best Rotax racers.
