LODI, CA (November 20, 2007) – Greg Bell’s Leading Edge Motorsports squad competed at the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XI this past weekend with mixed results on the temporary circuit set up outside Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The knowledgeable race engineer and Lodi, CA shop owner has now attended every edition in the race’s long and storied history. Expecting to score top results on the weekend, the event proved to be a tough trip to Vegas for most of the LEM/Intrepid team drivers, notching the weekend as one of experience.

Leading the team all weekend was former 80cc national champion Bryan Eady. The 20-year old from Shasta, CA was at the front of the S3 field all weekend long. Earning the pole position during the qualifying session, Eady recorded two runner-up finishes and a fourth in the heat races to start the main event from P1. In the Final, Eady led the field for most of the race until losing the top spot late in the going. Eady would stay on with the new leader until the two-to-go signal when he made his move to retake the lead. The drivers swapped the top spot multiple times until Eady made a slight error on the final lap that cost him the win, settling for an impressive second place finish. LEM driver Kristina McKnight made her first trip to Vegas but was unable to finish the main event, being classified in 29th spot.

In the headline SuperPro class, former SuperNationals winner Lorenzo Mandarino was the lone LEM pilot looking for the $10,000 first place prize. After posting top times in practice, qualifying did not go as well, placing 24th overall. Mandarino bounced back in the heat races, scoring sixth, seventh and ninth place finishes to start the main event in 10th. Working his way forward as high as fifth, battling against two of the top international drivers, Mandarino made slight contact with a barrier that resulted in a flat tire, taking him out of the race after just 12 laps, officially scored in 19th place.

Jess Peterson was consistent all weekend long as the only LEM driver in S1. After qualifying eighth, Peterson ran eighth in the first heat and advance one spot better in the final two motos for a P5 starting spot in the final. After advancing forward, Peterson spun to avoid another driver, dropping to the tail of the field. Never giving up, he drove back to finished 11th.

Nearly 80 drivers battled for 40 starting spots in the TaG Senior division with five LEM drivers in the mix. The Diede Racing squad, a new LEM works team, had three drivers looking to make the competitive TaG Senior main event. Colin Katzakian, a two-time Stars of Karting race winner this year under Bell’s guidance, struggled along all weekend long with bad luck and he was forced to run the C Main where he just missed the transfer spot, finishing sixth. Troy and Cody Diede were put into the B Main and both were unable to transfer to the Final after recording DNFs. Fellow LEM drivers Jared Woolf and Chris Alexander also missed the transfer spots in the B Main, finishing 16th and 18th respectively.
