| Snap-on Stars of Karting Prepares for National Finale |

The Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series will dole out over $110,000 in cash, scholarships, and prizes at the upcoming Desert MINI of Las Vegas National Finals event October 19-21 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event will crown all five national champions along with recognizing the East and West Champions banquet will be held on Friday evening in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Media Center. The racing action for the weekend will also be filmed for a one-hour telecast on the Versus Network.
As has been the case in past MINI-sponsored events, fans, team members, and competitors from the Snap-on Stars of Karting will receive the chance to test drive a MINI, on-track, under the professional supervision of a professional driver. This will take place during one-hour lunch break and end-of-day sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Following Friday’s on-track practice session, the series will host the 2007 Series banquet in the immaculate Blackjack Room in the infield media center at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Social Hour presented by Formula BMW will run from 7:00-8:00 PM with all attendees receiving one beverage ticket courtesy of Formula BMW. Dinner and presentations awarding the top-five from the East and West Divisions of the series will take place from 8:00-9:30 PM. On-site at the banquet will be karting simulator courtesy of iRacing.com. Cost to attend is $40 and registration forms can be found online at the Stars of Karting website (www.starsofkarting.com/members/docs/2007%20Banquet%20Form.pdf).
Iracing.com will have a simulator on-site all three days in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway garages to provide free demos with their racing simulation software. They will also be sponsoring Sunday’s Dash for Cash race, which will pit the top two qualifiers from ICC, PCH Motorsports ICA, and Spec Racer against one another in equally-prepared Easykarts for a $1,000 cash prize courtesy of iRacing.com.
For those unable to witness Sunday’s racing action in person, they will be able to see all five classes and their season finales on the Versus Network in a one-hour broadcast thanks to support from Snap-on Tools and Bridgestone. The broadcast date will be announced at a later time.
The racers of the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series will see over $110,400 in cash, prizes, and award scholarships to be given out. A listing of these prizes includes:
* The Skip Barber – Stars of Karting Scholarship awarding a full season in the Skip Barber National Championship presented by Mazda, a prize worth $50,000
* The Jim Trueman Memorial Award Scholarship which provides $25,000 in cash support to the career of Snap-on Stars of Karting pilot (picked by a panel of series officials and media)
* $5,000 to the ICC (shifter) National Champion
* $5,000 to the PCH Motorsports ICA National Champion
* $4,000 ICC weekend cash purse (as at all other Series events)
* $4,000 PCH Motorsports ICA weekend cash purse (as at all other Series events)
* $1,000 to the lead mechanic for the ICC (shifter) National Champion courtesy of Snap-on
* $1,000 to the lead mechanic for the PCH Motorsports ICA National Champion courtesy of Snap-on
* $1,000 to the Spec Racer National Champion
* $1,000 Team Award for the JICA National Champion
* $1,000 Team Award to the King Taco Cadet National Champion
* $1,000 in Mazda Zoom-Zoom Pole Award money (as at all other Series events)
* $8,000 of Snap-on Certificates (as at all other Series events)
* $1,000 worth of Gatorz Pole Award eyewear
* $400 worth of Zoombang Pole Award money
* $1,000 Iracing.com Dash For Cash
All this is in addition to the already paid out $162,000 in cash purse and Snap-on tool certificates, almost a $275,000 total prize package for the 2007 season. This represents a record payout in the sport of karting and is a testament to the sponsor support that the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series has garnered for its competitors. |
