| EKN Trackside: WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series - New Castle Preview |
| |
The Bridgestone/George Kugler Manufacturer's Cup Series driven by Mazda will make a historic visit to New Castle Motorsports Park this weekend for the Margay Nationals driven by Racersites.com. For the first time in history, the series will be making a stop at 1-mile circuit, located 45-minutes east of Indianapolis, for the fifth and final round of the 2007 season. In addition, RaceFanRadio.com will be broadcasting live on the internet throughout the weekend.
When the 2007 schedule was released minus the NCMP facility, the WKA members voiced their opinions to the organization, asking for a Man. Cup Series event to be held there. The four year old course has hosted national events for Stars of Karting, regional programs such as Great Lakes Sprint Series, Midwest Sprint Series, Route 66 Series and GLSKUSA events along with the local club program running year round.
RaceFanRadio.com introduced karting to the internet radio outlet during the 2006 RoboPong.com 200 event at NCMP. Then teaming with the Champ Car Rotax Kart Challenge in August for the Grand Nationals with eKartingNews.com’s Rob Howden and David Cole giving five straight days of live coverage from Colorado solidified the karting communities interest.
WKA has now partnered with the media outlet for this weekend’s event with the broadcast team of Motor Racing Network announcer and WKA Director of Operations, Buddy Long, along with WKA President, Randy Kugler. Their program will work in close cooperation with EKN’s David Cole and the Trackside Live coverage of the event. The broadcast schedule will begin with a two hour preview show on Friday afternoon immediately following practice.
Heading into the weekend, Sage Karam and Cody Robinson have their sights set on locking up a Triple Crown championship. Karam holds the top spot in the standings in all three Cadet divisions (Yamaha, HPV, Comer). Robinson controls three of the Junior classes (Yamaha Jr. SuperCan Lite, Yamaha Jr. SuperCan Heavy, HPV Jr. Heavy). Kevin Nelson and Cale Wyse go in to New Castle with each leading in two classes respectively. Nelson is on point for Yamaha Heavy and Yamaha Sr. Sportsman Heavy with Wyse leading both HPV Lite and Heavy. Champions will not be announced following the weekend’s events due to divisional schedules still competing as drivers have a chose to replace a Man. Cup results with one of their best divisional finishes.
Friday will be a full day of practice with 10 classes set to battle both on Saturday and Sunday. EKN will be trackside all weekend long, posting updates to the Official Discussion Thread in the forums throughout the day along with full results once the become official and daily reports. |
