 | Gary Carlton grabbed two more wins for CRG to continue their lead in the Constructors Championship

The 2007 Snap-on Stars of Karting completed the second round of the Eastern Division this past weekend at the New Castle Motorsports Park, just outside Indy. It was a beautiful weekend with no chance of rain all three days over the 1-mile circuit. When the racing was done, CRG continues to hold the number one spot in the EKN Constructors Championship standings with Tony Kart and Intrepid still holding on to second and third.
With 13 out of 16 possible top ten finishes, CRG again dominated with scores of 43 and 40, riding on the two wins by ICC driver Gary Carlton (PCH Motorsports). Also in the ICC division, Canadian Mike Vincec put in two solid fifth place runs on the weekend. In ICA, his Cameron Motorsports teammate Cody Jolly had an outstanding weekend, running fast and staying out of trouble with two runner-up finishes. Jake Rosenzweig (PSL Karting) and rookie Jacob Neal (PCH Motorsports) grabbed a third and a fourth in ICA. In Spec Racer, TrueNorth Motorsports/PSL pilots Nicholas Fairney and Max Riddle took turns in the top ten, with seventh and fifth place runs on the weekend. Three CRG drivers scored points in JICA with rookie Devon Jones (PCH Motorsports) and David Ostella (Cameron Motorsports) scoring constructors points on Saturday and Thomas Silva (SSC East) the only CRG on Sunday.
Tony Kart was third overall on the weekend but still maintains the second position overall, 51 points below CRG. Jonathan Branam (Tony Kart USA), Xavier Coupal (SH Karting), Jarvis Gennari (Tony Kart USA) and Chemill Mercado (JC Karting) were Saturday’s drivers earning points for the green team with Gennari earning a victory in JICA. Sunday was a better day for the chassis as six drivers scored points. ICC was Branam and teammate Danilo Dirani, ICA saw Tony Kart USA’s Joel Miller and Guillermo Freile run third and sixth, while Mercado and Gennari were in the top ten again on Sunday with Mercado taking the win.
Just five points overall behind Tony Kart, Intrepid is keeping pace after two weekends on the year. Scoring podium finishes helps as the Italian chassis had three on both Saturday and Sunday. Scott Jenkins (Champion Racing) scored two wins in ICA to lead the team on the weekend with Canadian Scott Rossi (Champion Racing) earning two podium finishes on the weekend as well. Leading ICC driver Jordy Vorrath (Champion Racing) was second on Saturday but it was Ryan Kinnear (Champion Racing) who had a solid weekend, scoring top ten finishes both days. Comet Racing’s Mark Dismore Sr. & Jr. took turn in the top ten in the Spec Racer division along with privateer Shane Walters running eighth in the class on Sunday. Colby Jenn (Champion Racing) also put in one point for his tenth place run in ICA on Saturday.
Birel and First Kart still sit fourth and fifth but are only separated by two points. Three more chassis’ joined the total standings as FA Kart, Merlin, and Sodi Kart earned points on the weekend, bringing the total to 15 chassis. Sodi Kart scored their 17 point just on Sunday, hoping to carry that momentum on for the rest of the year.
EKN Constructors Championships - Stars of Karting
The EKN Constructors Championship are calculated using only top ten finishes in the ICC, ICA, Spec Racer and JICA divisions. Each constructor will count their top two finishes in each class. Points will be awarded with a first place finish earning 10 points, down to a single point for a tenth place result.
