Sodi Kart Expo International Preview

The Sodi Kart Expo International will open its doors to the karting community on Saturday morning with a majority of the sport’s major industry players on-hand to display their product lines. Held at the Pheasant Run Resort and Convention Center in St. Charles this weekend, the event will feature a packed house as the Expo has been sold out for some time, occupying all the available convention space in the venue. Next year, the show will move to a new Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center, a more expansive location positioned closer to downtown Chicago.

The show has improved each year since its relocation to St. Charles, attracting new companies to the exhibitor list with each successive show. Chassis manufacturers and importers - the operations that serve to provide the foundation for the sport’s industry - have finally stepped up to support this trade show by making it the primary venue for debuting their new equipment. All the major chassis brands will be found on the show floor and those looking to buy new equipment will have the unique opportunity to speak with representatives of each manufacturer.

Chassis suppliers are not the only exhibitors as everything from tires and engine manufacturers to helmet painters and data acquisition providers will be on hand to promote their wares. For a karting enthusiast, this is an exciting outing.

The major organizations are here as well with booths, including the World Karting Association, International Karting Federation, RotaxMax Challenge and many series and clubs from across North America. Major karting events including the Rock Island Grand Prix and the Road America SuperNationals will also be providing information on their 2006 programs.

Racing celebrities scheduled to be in attendance include Champ Car driver Alex Tagliani, a winner in the Champ Car World Series, and karting enthusiast, author and Daytona Prototype pilot. Memo Gidley. The Californian will be signing autographs on Saturday and Sunday in Secrets of Speed booth. Along with co-author Jeff Grist, Gidley has authored the Secrets of Speed series, a number of karting books designed to help the racer do better on and off the track. The duo is currently working on a new karting feature due out in March or April 2006.

EKN is front and center on the show floor in the middle of the main hall, teamed with sister publication Super Kart Illustrated Magazine. SKI will be distributing complimentary issues to all the showgoers – while their stock lasts – and they will also be announcing the winner of this year’s SKI Awards during the Saturday taping of the ‘Happy Hour with Howden’ audio show. Once again, EKN Publisher Rob Howden will be hosting the show along with producer and EKN News Desk Manager David Cole. We will be taping two shows this weekend and each will be posted to the website as soon as possible. Check the site for coverage of this year’s show, with photography highlighting the latest and greatest products and all the action from the show floor.

Many seminars will be scheduled for the weekend, all aimed at improving the programs of those involved. The following is the current seminar schedule:
