| Team News: Team DPK Announce Drivers for 2006 |

As the new season approaches Team DPK- Birel is looking forward to another busy year. "As a team this year," states Dave Thompson Sr., "we will be supporting IKF, Stars of Karting East and West, Gatorz, Tri –C and LAKC and The Pro Kart Challenge Series, with drivers at these venues."
IKF will see the following drivers:
Adam Iavelli will head up the Kid Kart charge at IKF and LAKC.
As for Jr 1, Team DPK will field a 5 kart team at IKF. Returning from 2005 are Louie Pagano, Tyler Vance, Andrew Murray and Austin Barnes. Not new to racing, Kid Kart Standout Riley Reyes will debut in Jr 1.
In the Junior 2 classes, returning and moving up is Grand National Champion and many time Region 7 winner Taylor Miinch. Taylor will be racing at both Stars and IKF in multiple classes. Jacob Pearlman also returning will be racing at IKF and Tri-C, in just his 2nd year with Team DPK he has shown great promise. New additions to the team will be Cameron Jocelyn who is no stranger to the #1 podium spot and Brandon Toy who just made the switch to Birel will round out this solid group of Jr’s.
In the Senior Classes Cory Pollock, Stars of Karting Easy Kart National Champion will return to the Tag Class at various venues. Patrick Barrett IKF 2005 Tag champion will also be returning as his schedule allows. Michael Varela will be moving up to seniors this year. He has already proven to be the one to beat with a huge Super Box win at the Michael Clark Memorial race and a win at the Ca State Championships, his first race as a senior. Cody Swanson and Josh Litton also moving into Seniors, will both be competing in multiple classes in their new '06 Birel Chassis. Brothers John and Ken Stewart will also be returning with DPK to run in the Senior Division. John in Tag Heavy and Ken in HPV4 Heavy.
DPK will also be a returning sponsor for the Region7 IKF Series.
At Gatorz, Kyle Eggelton will return to defend his 2005 Gatorz Masters Championship and will be joined by Merrill Moses in Tag Seniors and Cameron Jocelyn in the Jr Rotax class. DPK will be the returning sponsor for the Masters Class.
Stars will see Team DPK working together with long time allies and importer MRP under 1 tent with other Birel dealers, all working towards the same goal, to keep our customers happy and up front. Miinch, Pagano and Murray will return to Stars for DPK with the final driver list still being worked on.
At the Pro Kart Challenge Brian Anderson will be running the Top ICC class. Brian was our first Podium winner in 2006 with a strong 2nd place finish at there 1st race of the year. Merrill Moses Brian Bender and Gary Kozuma will also be running in Shifter. Cory Pollock, who finished 4th at the season opener, will attend as available.
LAKC and Tri C will see multiple DPK drivers honing there skills at the grass route level hoping to be become DPK’S next National Champion. DPK will also be sponsoring the HPV 2 class this year at LAKC. |
