Reigning champions Osborne and Kiker continue to defend with big victories
In front of nearly 10,000 race fans who had already settled into their hillside seats at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama for the Grand American Rolex Series Porsche 250, a total of over 130 karts provided some exciting racing to kick off the day’s action. Organized and promoted by Robbie Harper and his Big South Road Racing crew, the Pro Kart Invitational held a coveted spot on the support card for this big event and the reaction by the karters was overwhelmingly positive.

Early morning practice session ends quick day for kart teams
A quick day for on-track action with an early morning practice session as the Pro Kart Invitational continues at the Barber Motorsports Park in a hazy Birmingham, Alabama. With the early time slot, many drivers misplaced their transponders for the first official timed session of the weekend where 75% of the karts did not record an official lap time.

FRIDAY, JULY 29
Bad weather rolls in to cancel afternoon action
Weather was the number one issue during today’s practice rounds at the Pro Kart Invitational at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Drivers and teams of the United States Superkart Championship, SKI F125 Enduro Challenge and Big South Road Racing Series were able to run a short 15-minute session in the early hours of the day and were scheduled to hit the track at 3:30pm local time when heavy thunderstorms swept through the area, ending all track action for the day. The third practiced schedule for today was to be the official timed session, and with a closed track, there are no official times available for the day. Tomorrow will be a short day for the teams as an 8:30am practice session will be the only track time available before Sunday morning’s events.
