A turn-by-turn track analysis begins our coverage of the national championship shootout

To kick-off our Trackside coverage for the day, we’ll offer up a turn-by-turn analysis of the National Finals layout here at Iron Rock Raceway. One of the key aspects of placing the SoT National Finals at Iron Rock was the opportunity to provide a track that could be new for everyone involved, and Stars has leverage this with a slightly altered version. The track configuration for the weekend is similar to the normal course, although the primary change is that it is being run clockwise, where Iron Rock is normally run counter-clockwise. A few corners have been adjusted as well, shortening some straightaways that would otherwise lead to hairpin turns. Instead, these corners have been re-laid at double-apex turns which will provide better conditions for the ICA and JICA categories, although potentially a less raceable track for the shifters.

PREVIEW - ICA

The most inconsistent class of the year has been the Intercontinental A (ICA) category for the Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by the IRL series. No one driver has been the stud of the year in either the Eastern or Western Divisions. The beginning of the year was rough for the North American drivers in the ICA category as the first two rounds of each division, which were placed on the CIK calendar, were won by European drivers.
