Wiegand repeats as King of the Streets champion, Lawson earns three victories
Sunday was full of ups and downs during the final day of this year’s Rock Island Grand Prix. The weather was clear for most of the day before a brief thunderstorm came down to delay the schedule until racing resumed. Red flags were also tough on the schedule as a few in the 2-Cycle and 4-Cycle classes, causing the schedule to run into the early evening ending just before the streetlights came on around the course.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
Wiegand captures King of the Streets pole with track record lap, then breaks it in ICC qualifying
A beautiful clear day graced the area for practice and qualifying day for this year’s Rock Island Grand Prix in Rock Island, IL. This year’s entry numbers went over 400 for the first time in the Grand Prix history. A late start in the morning along with a few red flags incidents put the schedule behind but the RIGP crew continued to run things as quickly as possible.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
Another record breaking weekend scheduled for “The Rock”
As many kids are finishing their first week of the new school year, the karting community is descending on the Quad Cities straddling the Mississippi River for the prestigious Rock Island Grand Prix. The most famous and longest-running street race in the United States winds its way through “The District” area of Rock Island, IL. Competitors from across North America and other parts of the world are all set to race “The Rock.” Over 400 entries make up a mix of different types of karting from the 4-Cycle crowd to the best 125cc shifter kart pilots in North America battling for the title “King of the Streets.”
