| 'Pimp My Kart' |

With all the brand new hot rods scheduled to make their first laps in 2005, look for one additional ride to make its debut next season. EKN and Super Kart Illustrated are very excited to announce a joint participation with EPIC Inc. in a new partnership program that will see the three enterprises co-promoting the inaugural 'Pimp My Kart' extravaganza. One lucky contestant will be selected from the entries received from amateur racers and their personal kart will be officially “pimped” by the good folks at EPIC. Someone’s well-run race karts will be transformed into a slick new ride.
In an effort to raise brand awareness and bring some excitement to the racetrack, EPIC’s Erik Penz - the original purveyor of shifter-kart gluttony – will employ the talents of his esteemed staff of mechanics and fabricators and together they will set out this December to re-define ‘bling-bling’. Once chosen, the kart of our lucky winner will be completely resurrected by EPIC at their facility in Braselton, GA while Ekartingnews will offer a play-by-play of the metamorphosis. Super Kart Illustrated will play host to the official documentary and will publish a three-segment feature, beginning with the February issue. The final product will be unveiled at the 2005 Kart Expo in St. Charles, IL on February 26 at a ceremony that will see the winning contestant re-united with their ‘pimped-out’ ride.

SKI’s Rob Howden is excited about the promotion and hopes to set a precedent in the karting industry. “We are always trying to think outside of the box and come up with new, creative ideas to generate interest in the sport,” states Howden. “The idea for this promotion came over to us from the guys at EPIC and naturally, we jumped at the opportunity. Not only is this great for the racers but it also allows us to reward our loyal sponsors and advertisers in a unique, favorable way. It’s these guys who will be donating all the great add-on stuff to rebuild the kart!”
EPIC’s Erik Penz agrees; “The benefit to the sponsors is quite significant because this presents an entirely new and coveted application for their product or brand. No single team or driver can offer that. We are assembling the ‘ultimate showcase’ for new products and technology with the Pimp My Kart promotion and even though it’s quite a bit of work for us, I’d honestly like to see it become a reoccurring affair.”
The staff members of EPIC Inc., Super Kart Illustrated and Ekartingnews will be finalizing the list of manufacturer constituents for the promotion in the coming weeks and an official announcement outlining each partnership is expected to be made before Christmas. However, those racers interested in being “pimped” are invited to begin submitting their applications immediately as the lucky winner is scheduled to be announced on Christmas morning.
Applications are outlined as follows and should be emailed to PimpMyKart@erikpenz.com. Please submit the following for proper consideration:
1. Digital photo(s) of current kart, detailing all blemishes and cosmetic damage*
2. Recent photo of driver/owner with kart
3. Brief driver biography outlining your amateur racing career to date
4. Event record from 2004 competition
4. Three reasons why we should pick your kart to be PIMPED!
* Please submit all photos in either .jpg or .tif format with a max file size of 200kb.
Contestant eligibility requirements:
▪ must possess operating, fully-functional 125cc shifter kart
▪ chassis must be pre-2001 model year
▪ 18+ years old age requirement
▪ must assume cost to ship kart to EPIC, Inc. (Braselton, GA)
▪ must agree to take delivery of kart @ KMI Kart Expo in Chicago in Feb. and assume corresponding travel costs
▪ must agree to use of name and picture/image in surrounding marketing material
