Last night at the Pro Moto Tour Banquet, Cole Whitt (TopKart) was awarded the number one plate and followed this honor by earning the pole in the Formula K2 class (80cc Jr.). It took seven laps for the California driver to build up the pace for a 53.243, which would be good enough for the pole. In the first group, Keith Spicer (TonyKart) and Jeremy Reagles (CRG) traded the provisional pole. When their session ended, Reagles had posted the fastest time, only to see it fall to the charging Whitt.
This changed quickly in the second session when Whitt rolled out his Top Kart, getting down to business quickly. At the checker, Whitt on pole with Reagles and Spicer sitting in second and third. Kayd Straley was fourth while Ryan Phinny showed in fifth.
