National Technical Director for the US RMax Challenge, Scott G Evans announced yesterday that the disqualification decision regarding Jarvis

Evans explains, “Inspection of Gennari’s engine at the track revealed an internal anomaly that has not been witnessed until this date. I was confident at the time that it represented an unapproved modification and I made the disqualification decision at the time. At my suggestion, Mr. Gennari protested the decision, enabling me to confiscate the part in question and research it further under controlled circumstances and with consultation from the ROTAX factory.”
“The end analysis of these consultations and measurements revealed that it is possible that this anomaly was present in the as-supplied condition,” stated Evans. “Performance gain resulting from the anomaly has been ruled out and – in the interest of justice – the decision has been overturned.”
The component in question will be scrapped and forwarded to the ROTAX factory for further analysis and program quality improvement and replaced free of charge.
Regrets are expressed to Mr. Gennari and his team as well as the engine-sealing agent, Advanced Karting and Andre Martins, for any negative publicity shone on them as a result of this instance.
“On behalf of Rotax USA, I would like to sincerely apologize to the Gennari family and Andre Martins of Advance Karting for this unfortunate claim, we hope in some way we’ve conveyed that were not on a which hunt, but rather acting in the best interest of protecting the spec integrity of the Rotax program” stated Joe Ramos from SSC Racing, coordinators of Rotax USA.
“I totally respect Scott Evens for his technical scrutinizing and making the call on the blemished cylinder later to be verified by Rotax Austria that Scott was correct in his evaluation, that it was a flaw, but caused at production and was not a performance enhancement. The spec integrity is the backbone of the Rotax success and we would rather be caught apologize then allow suspicious flows to pass,” added Ramos.
Congratulations Jarvis Gennari for a great win at the 2004 Rotax Grand Nationals
Mini-Max class.
