Today Deadline for CalSpeed Race
Today is the last day to pre-register and save money for the October 23 CalSpeed Arrive & Race Sprint event at California Speedway. The series has made a few adjustments to the format and distribution of prize money - see below for details.

AGENDA (65 minutes of track time)
8:30 - 9:00 AM Registration
9:00 - 9:30 AM Driver's Meeting
9:30 - 11:30 PM
(2) 10-minute practice sessions
(1) 10-minute qualifying session
12:00 - 1:00 PM Lunch break
1:00 - 3:00 PM
(2) 10-minute heat races
(1) 15-minute main event


GRID FORMAT
Heat 1: the field will grid in qualifying order with the fastest driver on pole.
Heat 2: the field will grid in finishing order from Heat 1, with the first 3 rows inverted.
Main Event: the field will grid by total accumulated points from qualifying and both heat races.


COST
The cost to race is $395 per driver and includes the following:
- Stratos Racing Kart with 390cc Honda 4-stroke engine
- Sparco safety gear including full suit, neck collar, gloves and Bieffe helmet (if needed)
- All fuel, oil, and tires as needed
- Participant medical insurance
- Expert instruction from our team of professional drivers
- Team mechanics performing all fuel fills, maintenance, and repairs throughout the event
- Prize money (see distribution details below)


POINTS
Drivers will be awarded points for qualifying, each heat race, and the main event. The driver with the highest point total for the day will take first prize.


Points will be awarded in the following format:

PRIZES
The top three point finishers will receive trophies. As for prizes, the top five point finishers and the day's hard charger will be awarded prize money in the form of credits to be used toward any future event with Karting Ventures. The size of the prize fund will be based on $50 per registered driver (this amount is included in the registration fee). The more drivers, the larger the prize fund. (For example, if 12 registered drivers, then $600 prize fund (12 X $50). If 6 drivers, then $300 fund).


The distribution of the fund will be as follows:
1st - 40%
2nd - 20%
3rd - 15%
4th - 10%
5th - 5%
Hard Charger - 10%


WEIGHT BALLAST
To help level the playing field, all karts will be weight ballasted to a minimum driver weight of 180 pounds. Drivers tipping the scales below the minimum, will have ballast added to their kart to bring them up to the 180 pound minimum.


REGISTRATION
Each race will be limited to a maximum of 12 drivers. To reserve your seat, please complete the UPDATED attached registration form and mail/fax/email it along with payment (we accept Visa and MasterCard). The pre-registration deadline for each event is two weeks prior, after which the registration fees increase by 10%.


Drivers should have prior experience with sprint, endurance, or indoor kart racing. Graduates of a full-day kart driving school within the past year will be allowed to compete with instructor approval. All drivers should have knowledge of the meaning of the various racing flags and race rules as outlined in the Karting Ventures Rulebook. The Stratos karts can accommodate drivers 5'0" to 6'6" tall and a maximum weight of 240 pounds.
