Industry News: National Karting Alliance Completes 4-cycle Tech Team

NKA is happy to announce our 4-cycle tech team is complete with an All-Star cast leading 4-cycle karting into 2013 and beyond! The purpose of the 4-cycle Tech Team is to bring stability and consistency to rules for 4-cycle karting as well as train tech officials working at NKA sanctioned tracks. The team consists of three members all of whom not only bring great experience and knowledge of 4-cycle karting, but also are known for their high integrity and ethics.

“We’re very excited to announce this tech team on our 4-cycle side,” stated NKA CEO Joe Janowski. “They all came highly recommended for their integrity and knowledge of the engines. Both were very important factors in our decision process to be added under the NKA banner ~especially integrity as we insist NKA be positioned as not being in anyone’s ‘back pocket’.”

Leading the NKA 4-cycle Tech Team is Boyd Maloney of Shelby, North Carolina. Maloney has served as a tech official for every major karting series in the Southeast. Additionally, Maloney owns Longbranch Engineering and is the promoter at Carolina 120 Speedway.

Tom Stiverson of Hillsdale, Michigan owns a small engine repair shop and has been involved in karting since the 1960’s. He has been a tech inspector for many high profile series and events since the early 1990’s. Stiverson came highly recommended for his vast knowledge of small 4-cycle engines (and the fact he does not build engines for competition any longer).

The final member of the Tech Team is Jeff Jones of Des Moines, Iowa. After an 11-year sprint-car racing career, Jones switched to karting to spend time with his son. He has been part of the Newton (Iowa) Kart Klub (NKK) since 1992. Additionally, he has been tech director for major series in Iowa and Nebraska, promoted races, and been a co-race director.

NKA is a 27-year old company best known for providing pit pass programs, rulebook, and other track services to karting facilities nationwide. The NKA has close to 300 member tracks from coast-to-coast. For more information on NKA visit http://www.nkaonline.com or feel free to call 317.774.7021.
