| Pittsburgh International Race Complex and Karting Director Dan Schlosser Part Ways |
| Article by: pittrace.com |
After a long and successful run, Pittsburgh International Race Complex and Karting Director Dan Schlosser have decided to part ways in conjunction with the close of the 2012 season.
The relationship started with Dan providing PR assistance to the track in 2005. Over the years he has served in a variety of capacities including PR/Marketing Director, ProShop Manager, Karting Series Director, Event Coordinator and Motorsports Manager.
The last several years though the focus has been on the karting program. As Series Director, Schlosser fostered a program that had doubled in size and featured nearly 100 entries a week while on the ProShop side of the business in just five years the business grew from a part-time operation to the #1 Birel/Freeline Dealership in North America in 2012.
In addition to the local success, the facility returned to National prominence hosting National and Regional WKA programs with the projected 2013 schedule featuring four National caliber events.
Long awaited revitalization of the facility began in the Spring of 2011 working alongside new ownership in Jim & Kathy Stout. Together they made years of planning and wish lists in to reality with drainage and curbing improvements, safety bag and gravel trap installation, track and pit lane fencing upgrades, pit lane expansion and rental garage construction most notably.
“To be involved in the sweeping improvements over the last 18 months has been very exciting! Working with Jim & Kathy to facilitate the transformation of a good track in to a great karting facility is something that we are all very proud of,” noted Schlosser. “While the growth of the series and facility improvements have been fantastic to be part of, my time working with young racers and new karting families is what I’ll remember most. These racers and families have become my extended family and watching them grow, have fun in the sport and achieve success on and off the track has been a thrill!”
With change comes opportunity on many levels. Schlosser will continue in karting in other endeavors, while at the track Brandon Adkins will take over the reigns of the karting program. Adkins has a long and storied kart racing history including wins and championships at every level in North America. As someone who has spent his entire life in karting, growing up with a kart track in his front yard and one of the most successful engine shops in karting at his doorstep, assuming this new role is a natural progression after being involved in all aspects of the karting program at PIRC over the last two years.
Jim Stout - PIRC Owner: “Kathy and I enjoyed working with Dan during the recent improvements at the track. Dan and the staff built a great karting program at Pitt Race. We wish Dan the best in his new endeavors.”
