| WKA Announces 2013 National Road Racing Schedule |

The World Karting Association and the Road Racing host clubs have finalized a 2013 VEGA / TS Racing National Road Racing Series driven by Mazda schedule of events that has the historic enduro-style karting series traveling to many of the best road course east of the Mississippi.
The 2013 slate kicks off in a little more than one month with the prestigious Daytona Road Racing Championships at the 3.56-mile Daytona International Speedway road course December 27-30.

The second round of the national tour takes place February 8-10 at Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, Ga.
Round three has the series traveling to Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, S.C., April 4-6. The Johnny Jacumin Memorial will run in conjunction with the Manufacturers Cup Series' Zoom Zoom Nationals for the third consecutive year. The 2012 Awards Ceremony will also be held in conjunction with the Johnny Jacumin Memorial show.
Rounds four and five mark the annual Midwest swing with a pair of Dart Kart Club-hosted events. Round four has the series traveling to Michigan's Grattan Raceway for the second straight year. Grattan will run May 17-19. Round five is the annual trek to the popular Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course June 7-9.
The 2013 Road Racing Grand Nationals will run at VIRginia International Raceway July 26-28. The Woodbridge Kart Club-hosted event will run the 3.27-mile Full Course for the second consecutive year.
WKC also hosts round seven of the series September 6-8 at the Summit Point (W.Va.) Motorsports Park Main Course.
A potential eighth date is to be decided. An eighth race may occur in the fall at a yet to be determined venue.

Clone engine head gasket rule change, effective immediately
WKA has made an adjustment to the head gasket rules for Clone engines, effective immediately.
The WKA Board of Trustees voted last night, November 20, to change the Clone head gasket rules. Minimum head gasket thickness is still 0.008"; however, there is now NO maximum thickness on head gasket.
The 26.5cc minimum volume in the combustion chamber rule will remain intact.
The use of sealants on head gaskets on Clone engines is now LEGAL.
This change is to make the head gasket rule more in line with the current head gaskets being used as well as being user-friendlier. |
