Route 66 Sprint Series Releases 2013 Schedule

The Route 66 Sprint Series has announced a five event schedule to be held at five different tracks for the 2013 racing season. At the request of the participants, a shorter schedule will help reduce travel and racing expenses and reduce the chance for inclement weather at the early and late season events. With the success that the "Komet Throwdown" and the "Yamaha Shootout" had this past year, the series will be adding special money races to every race weekend for the 2013 season.

The series will open at New Castle Motorsports Park (NCMP) in May followed by a return to Michiana Raceway Park (MRP) near South Bend, IN in June. Badger Kart Club (BKC) located in Dousman, WI will host round three in July followed by a visit to Concepts Haulers Motor Speedway (CHMS) in Norway, Illinois in August. The final event will be held at the historic Mid-State Raceway near Springfield, IL in September. Mid-State Kart Club (MSKC) is currently revamping the pit area at Mid-State Raceway where the pit area will be raised and leveled out. The MSKC event will also be a bonus points race and if competitors compete in all five series events, an additional 22 bonus points will be awarded toward the season points total. The best four out of five events will count toward the season point championship in 2013.

2013 Route 66 Sprint Series Schedule
NCMP - May 4 & 5, 2013 - "LEOPARD OUTLAW RACE"
MRP - June 15 & 16, 2013 - "YAMAHA JUNIOR SHOOTOUT"
BKC - July 13 & 14, 2013 - "YAMAHA SPORTSMAN SMACKDOWN"
CHMS - August 24 & 25, 2013 - "KOMET THROWDOWN"
MSKC - September 21 & 22, 2013 - "YAMAHA SHOOTOUT" **
(** Bonus points race) - Race all 5 events and receive 22 bonus points.

The 2013 class structure will be announced within the next 30 days. Visit the series website for more details (www.route66kartracing.com). The series will be utilizing the current 2012 Tech rules for class structure in 2013. New to the series in 2013 will be a Clone Senior class racing on both Saturday and Sunday. The Route 66 Sprint Series will be posting their own rules and tech book in January 2013.

The 2012 season awards banquet will be held January 26, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Springfield, IL. Banquet registration forms will be available on the series web site, (www.route66kartracing.com). Last year over $60,000 in awards and merchandise were given out at the awards banquet. The awards banquet will be held on the same weekend in January as the popular Winter Kart Show. This vendor and swap show held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds 39,000 square feet Orr Building is one of the largest sprint kart trade shows in the USA. Vendors are encouraged to reserve there space early as this show will sell out again. For more information about the Winter Kart Show, visit http://www.WinterKartShow.com
