 | | Todd Olcott |
Todd Olcott, of Henderson, NV, driver of the #9 go-kart in next week’s Shifter Kart USA’s SuperNationals has decided to donate all winnings to the American Red Cross and it’s Hurricane Sandy Relief effort on the east coast. The prize is $10,000 for first place and the winnings pay down to 5th place. “What SKUSA will give me, I will give to charity” says Olcott. His plan of running in the top-tier KZ2 catagory doesn’t phase him. “We’ll give it our best shot and the victims will be on my mind the entire time I’m there. We’re not going to do percentages. We’re not going to subtract our costs. ALL of it goes to the Red Cross.” says the local kart champion.
He’s not a stranger to the winner’s circle, having won this year at the Northern California Karting’s Willow Springs event, he bested other karts that were running 250cc motors in the Unlimited 2 class for the win at the “Streets of Willow” course, captured the top spot in Formula 125 and won the points championship for the year in F125 while he was at it. “I didn’t like the track, but it sure liked me. I gave it all I had and it paid off”, Olcott adds. A week after the SuperNationals, Todd is poised to run at another NCK event, this time at Sonoma (formerly Infineon) Raceway. “I get asked if it’s the NASCAR/IndyCar track..why YES IT IS, I tell them.” Although there is no prize money at the out of state events, Todd has his sights set on the payoff November 18th at the Rio All-Suite Hotel’s back lot where the Supernats will take place.
