| Team News: Verhagen Brothers Join KartSport North America and Arrow Racing Kart Fleet of Drivers |
| |
Brothers, Neil and Alex Verhagen, have made the decision to join the KartSport North America team, the exclusive North American importer of Arrow Racing Karts. These young karters will begin their partnership with KartSport NA at the largest karting event of the year, the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XVI presented by MG Tires in Las Vegas, Nev., on November 14-18.
The Verhagen brothers, of Ridgefield, Conn., are rising stars within the karting world. Neil, 11, captured three National wins in the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series along with a runner-up points finish in the Florida Winter Tour Rotax Mini Max division in 2012.
Not to be outdone, younger brother, Alex, 9, captured the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Yamaha Rookie National Points Championship and finished eighth at the Rotax Grand Nationals in the Micro Max division.
The team of brothers hopes to improve their stats further by partnering with the KartSport NA/Arrow team. Neil and Alex both had a productive test session at the brand new karting facility, Mooresville Motorplex (MMX) in Mooresville, N.C., this past weekend. KartSport NA recently relocated to a shop on the grounds of the MMX facility.
“I was up to speed immediately on the Arrow kart,” said Neil. “After working with Eric Jones and the KartSport guys at Mooresville Motorplex, I can’t wait to get to Vegas!”
Alex was grinning from ear to ear when he got out of his new Arrow Kart after his first few test laps.
“I really liked my new kart right away and I really like that KartSport is going to be at MMX,” said Alex.

Eric Jones, professional karting and racing veteran and president of KartSport NA, was impressed and pleased with the Verhagen brothers’ performance at the test session and decision to align with KartSport NA.
“I have been watching Alex and Neil’s progress this past season,” said Jones. “I’ve been quite impressed with what they have done under the coaching and tuning of Michael “Chi Chi” Ramirez. KartSport has been searching for cadet drivers to fill in our team ladder and build the foundation for years to come and I have absolutely zero doubt that Neil and Alex will carry on the winning tradition of current Team Arrow stars, Sam Beasley, Jacob Donald and Kyle Kirkwood to name a few. Neil and Alex will also play a vital role in the development of our cadet karts in the future. Their feedback of the new X2 cadet test kart was very helpful in preparation for the SuperNats next week.”
The Verhagen brothers and KartSport NA will not only partner together at this year’s SuperKarts! USA SuperNationals, but they will also race the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup series, Florida Winter Tour, Rotax Grand Nationals and several other events together.
