After earning the 2012 Florida Winter Tour (FWT) Rotax Micro Max Vice-Championship and earning third place podium honors at the United States Rotax Grand Nationals earlier this year, MRP Motorsport/Birel pilot Harry Coulton ended his October as the eKartingNews.com #1 ranked Rotax Micro Max driver in the country. Coulton's ranking comes via stellar performances in several Rotax Max Challenge series, and the top ranking only continues to prove his prowess in the youngest Rotax division.
With Coulton's top six of 13 total events used to tabulate his score, the Lakeland, Florida resident emerged the #1 driver out of 132 currently ranked across the country. Wins in multiple North Florida & South Florida Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) events put Coulton on top of the list as of October 1. With eKartingNews.com tabulating total points with a base ranking for each event as well as an added variable for field size, Coulton earned a total of 5596 points from his top six races.
The nine-year-old talent has shown success throughout 2012, earning podium finishes in every RMC race he has competed in this year. Also earning the Micro Max Vice-Championship at the prestigious and competitive Florida Winter Tour earlier this year, Coulton's #1 ranking comes as little surprise. The young gun also placed third during a standout week at the US Rotax Grand Nationals. Also achieving his Blue Belt in Tae Kwon Do is a focus, and continually working his way towards his Black Belt, this multi-talented competitor has what it takes to succeed as the 2012 karting season winds down and the 2013 season gets underway.
"Harry has worked hard this year on improving his focus/strength and consistency. His consistency is now second to none and we sometimes have to remind ourselves that he is only nine years old. He really does take his racing seriously and he is adamant that racing is his future career path. Given his effort and commitment, all we can do as parents is to support him in achieving his goal," said Harry's father, Andrew Coulton.
Harry would like to thank his supporters: Siemens, MRP Motorsport, Birel, his tuner/coach Tim Lobaugh, AM Engines and Ariel Castro, Choes Martial Arts of Lakeland as well as his parents for their continued support.
