Series News: Ocala Gran Prix Fall/Winter Program Complete Round Four

It was another terrific race weekend in Ocala as the Fall/Winter local program completed the fourth of five rounds under the lights this past Saturday evening. With nearly 100 competitors in attendance in a host of local classes, fierce competition would once again take place in the Rotax Junior and Senior fields as several Rotax Grand Finals Team USA drivers would switch to the equipment they would use overseas. As the series continues to expand and more drivers participate in what is quickly becoming one of the top local programs in the Sunshine State, teams and drivers are praising the program for the tight knit, close action that comes with racing in Ocala.

"We have yet to break 100 drivers at one of the Fall/Winter events but we have one round remaining and hope to do so then," explained Ocala Gran Prix President Jorge Arellano. "We continue to get drivers from outside the state and some that consistently come from the Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas. The goal is to continue to develop the series to try and get more drivers to come and compete, and prepare for the following year's action."

The Rotax Senior class was once again dominated by multi-time champion and 2011 SuperKarts! USA S2 SuperNationals Champion Nick Neri. Taking the pole position, prefinal win and main event victory, Neri proved why he is one of America's top karting drivers. Quentin de Boever was a first time winner in the Rotax Junior field as he and Olivier Bellanger had an all out fight to the end.

Not limited to just the Rotax Max Challenge classes, drivers would also compete in Rotax Micro Max, Rotax DD2, TaG Masters, Cadet Junior Sportsman, Yamaha Junior Sportsman and Shifter divisions.

Oliver Askew, Ashley Rogero, Bill Lester and Rene Martinelli would all make the switch to different equipment for this weekend's past event as all four will compete at the Rotax Grand Finals in Portimao, Portugal later this year. While Askew and Rogero would compete on Rotax powered Birel chassis, Lester and Martinelli would utilize Haase DD2 karts as they look to test the waters of the international equipment.

One race remains in the OGP Fall/Winter Program:
