WKA Daytona Dirt World Championships to Offer $10,000 Pro Clone Event
Article by: WKA PitBoard

The World Karting Association is preparing for one of the biggest and best Daytona KartWeek events in years, and this year's edition of the prestigious event will include the richest cash purses WKA has ever offered.

The Daytona Dirt World Championships at the DIS quarter-mile Flat Track - the 2013 season-opener for the DynoCams Tri-State Pro Series - will host many of the best dirt-oval karters and teams in the United States this December 28-30.

The headline race will be the $10,000-To-Win Clone Pro race for senior drivers age 15 and up. The race is for Box Stock engines utilizing the big pipe, any dry clutch and one of four mandatory WKA-legal flywheels - ARC, PVL and Racing flywheel with a 3 pound, 2 ounce minimum and the Speed Karts cast flywheel will also be legal at a 5 pound, 3 ounce minimum.

The Clone Pro race will run a 380-pound minimum, Maxxis-only tire rule and pays back 10 places. Drivers must run at least one non-pro Box Stock class to enter.

Briggs & Stratton Animal engines will turn plenty of laps at Daytona this December.

Briggs Racing has posted a cool $2,000 to the winner of the Senior Animal Pro race. Senior Animal Pro will run a 375-pound minimum (standard Heavy weight) and competitors will have to enter at least one non-pro Animal class to enter.

The 12- to 15-year-old age group has $2,000 on the line in Animal Junior, while 8- to 12-year-olds can run the Clone Junior Pro with the purple plate. This division has been popular on the Tri-State tour and WKA anticipates a strong field at Daytona.

Junior 1 and Junior 2 teams each will have a $2,000-To-Win show. Junior 1 will run Animal-only while Junior 2 racers have the option of the Animal engine or the Briggs flathead at a 10-pound break.

All $2,000-To-Win Pro races will run a Maxxis-only tire rule and pay back five places. The $10,000-To-Win Clone Pro, as noted, will pay back 10 places.

All Pro class entrants have to enter at least one non-pro race.

The WKA Daytona Dirt World Championships entry form will be available next week.
