 | | Jimmy Clark |
Jimmy Clark proved he’s one of the best Supercan racers this season. Driving a CRG for CRG Midwest, he won three of the four WKA national races he entered. He also won his fourth and fifth consecutive championships in Yamaha Supercan Light and Heavy in the Route 66 Sprint Series.
Jimmy won three WKA Manufactures Cup races in a row. At the MKP National in South Bend he won the prefinal in Supercan Light. He then checked out in the final, winning by 6 seconds. He swept Supercan Heavy taking the pole, prefinal and winning the final by 5 seconds. At the Kartlift National at Norway Jimmy continued his winning ways. He qualified second in Supercan Light. He was leading the prefinal with a few corners to go when he got taken out. He recovered to finish sixth. Starting sixth in the final, he worked his way forward taking the lead with two to go and scoring his third straight win. Jimmy qualified second in Supercan heavy. He was leading the prefinal when his motor blew up. Starting last in the final due to an engine change, Jimmy charged forward to fifth and the final spot on the podium.
Once again the Route 66 Sprint Series held some of the best racing anywhere. Every event saw a strong mix of national drivers, the best regional drivers, and local hot shoes defending their home turf. Just how tough was it? In seven events there were seven different winners in senior Supercan Heavy. There were six different winners in senior Supercan Light with Jimmy the only double winner. Jimmy was the man to beat all season and secured the championships in Senior Supercan Light and Heavy. They were his fourth and fifth consecutive Supercan championships.
Jimmy finished the year with seven poles, fifteen fast times, and fourteen prefinal and final wins in eighteen races
Jimmy would like to thank his father and longtime tuner James Clark and his mom Nancy and sister Colleen for all their support. He’d also like to thank Curt Cornell and all the boys under the CRG Midwest tent, Jeff Matty, Nick Defronzo and Joe Paterno for all their hard work and support.
