Top WKA Manufacturers Cup Junior Sportsman and Rotax racer David Malukas is joining the MRP Motorsport team and will remain on a Birel chassis in 2013.

Malukas's first event on an MRP Birel will be the upcoming SKUSA Supernationals in Las Vegas. David, who recently celebrated his 11th birthday, will continue to pursue WKA national championships in the Cadet, KPV and Yamaha Sportsman classes in 2013, beginning with the December 27-30 Daytona Sprint Championships at the Daytona International Speedway Sprint Track.

Malukas will also race an MRP Birel at selected Rotax events in 2013.

MRP President Garry Lobaugh commented on the addition of the talented racer to MRP Birel. "The MRP family is very pleased to see David return to campaign with Birel America's official team in 2013 with WKA Man Cup racing as well as Rotax," Lobaugh stated. "Henry Malukus, David's father, is a concerned parent who started off with an MRP racing school back when David was age 7. Henry displays the type of parent who invests in the knowledge to grow his son's race craft and learn life's lessons. Our family is looking forward to developing the latest technology in our Cadet program that has been so successful over the past years."

Henry Malukas spoke about the coming season and reflected on his past success with the Motorama Kart Parts team. "With MKP moving to Top Kart, a decision had to be made," Henry said. "David and I spent many hours discussing our decision. We are very grateful for the resources, support and guidance Bill McLaughlin and the MKP family have provided us for several years. It will never be replaced. However, it is time for a new chapter in David's karting career and that will be with Mr. Lobaugh and the MRP Birel team. We are extremely excited to get started in Las Vegas and Daytona."

Jason Birdsell will continue as the head tuner for Malukas.

After a number of WKA Great Lakes and Route 66 Sprint Series wins, Malukas scored his first WKA Man Cup win in May at Pittsburgh. Since then, David won at least one race in each Man Cup round, and boasted a 30 percent winning average since round three of the series in class's that regularly field 25 to 40 entrants.

He ended the year with six Man Cup final wins.

David Malukas is an 11-year-old national sprint go-kart racer from Chicago, Illinois. Malukas is a six-time feature winner in the Jr Sportsman divisions in national World Karting Association competition and a feature winner in WKA Great Lakes and Route 66 sprint regional series.
