Industry News: D Power Racing Continues Success Throughout September

Four race events and eleven different drivers, posed a very busy September schedule for D Power Racing Engines. Even with such a demanding schedule, D Power was able to show great pace every weekend and obtain success as well.

The demanding month began early on, on Sept. 1-2, at Grange Motor Circuit for the 5th round of the IKF Region 7 season. D Power had two drivers compete in the Tag Sr. category, Travis Lowe and Alejandro “Alejo” Fernandez, and one driver in the PRD Jr. 2 category, Willy Axton. In Tag Sr., Lowe dominated the field in every on track session. He qualified on pole by over six tenths of a second. He then continued his strong running by taking both heat race victories and cruised to a seven second victory in the main event. Alejo showed strong pace all weekend and was able to qualify third. He dropped back one place to fourth in each heat race, but was able to find more speed in the main event. Alejo was able to progress up to a solid second place finish in the main event. In PRD Jr. 2, Willy Axton struggled early on and qualified in the seventh position. With every heat session that passed Axton progressed up the order and started the main event in fourth place, with a great chance of competing for the win. At the drop of the green, he looked strong but on the exit of turn 3 Axton got caught up in an accident and was unable to finish the race. The IKF Region 7 race was all in all a successful weekend with a 1-2 in Tag Sr. and a strong showing in PRD Jr.2.

The following weekend on Sept. 9th, D Power Racing Engines headed out to the California Speedway for the Los Angeles Kart Club race. There were three drivers competing with a D Power Racing Engine aboard their kart. In the Tag Sr. event, Alejo Fernandez fought for the win the entire race event. He settled for a second place finish in the main event. Race Liberante competed in the PRD Sr. category and after qualifying finished saw himself in the ninth place position. He moved up to the fifth place spot by the end of the heat race and remained in that position at the end of the main event. Robby Stanovich competed in the PRD Pilot category and after some trouble throughout the day decided to slap on a D Power engine for the main event. He came from the back of the field and moved all the way up to the second place finishing position.

With a short turnaround, D Power Racing Engines headed to the sixth round of the SKUSA! ProKart Challenge California series, in Lancaster, CA for the Lancaster Grand Prix street race. This event has grown each year and this year was no exception. D Power had five drivers in the highly competitive Tag. Sr. class, one driver in Tag Masters, and one driver in Tag Jr. Vatche Tatikian represented D Power Racing engines in the TAG Masters category. Tatikian is a relative new comer to the sport has progressed tremendously throughout the year. Vatche entered qualifying and showed great promise, and was able to obtain the third starting position for the first heat race. Due to a DNF in the first heat race, he was forced to start the second heat in the rear of the field but was able to move up to the seventh position by the end. In the main event, Vatche showed tremendous speed and was a strong contender for victory but ended up in the third place finishing spot due to a brake failure. Most of the D Power enteries competed in the Tag Sr. category. In qualifying, Devin Lindsey ended up second, Mason Daughters fourth, Dakota Dickerson fifth, Travis Lowe ninth, and Andrew Wiener thirteenth. Throughout the heat races the D Power drivers showed improvement and by the end of the last heat race, there were four D Power drivers in the top seven ready to compete for the win in the main event. The main event saw tremendous amounts of action from the drop of the green to the checkered flag. Devin Lindsey and Travis Lowe were in the front group battling for the lead when Lindsey was caught in an incident and fell back through the field. Lowe was able to move up into second place, and made a move for the lead on the last lap. He held the position going into the final corner but was shoved wide into the barriers and had to settle for a second place finish. Daughters came home in a strong third, Lindsey powered back to a fourth place finish while setting the fast lap of the race, Wiener fought all the way up to sixth, and Dakota Dickerson got caught up in an accident and DNFed. This was a strong showing in the Tag Sr. field with D Power having four drivers in the top six. In the Tag Jr. field Noah Grey was a challenger all weekend and start off by qualifying seventh in the largest field all weekend of twenty one drivers. He had issues in both heat races and DNFed in each race. He had a tremendous drive in the main and was able to fight his way from the back of the pack all the way up to the sixth place finishing position. Although D Power was not able to walk away with any victories the Lancaster Grand Prix was still an immensely successful weekend.

On Sept. 22 it was on to the Tri-C club race at the California Speedway for D Power. Willy Axton was the lone competitor for D Power and he was competing in the HPV-2 class. Axton grabbed the pole position, both heat race wins, and the main event win by a vast margin.

With hard work, dedication, and a love for their craft, it’s no wonder D Power has achieved success in all aspects of the karting industry. With their exceptional results, D Power Racing engines are constantly looking to grow and succeed.
