| Series News: Clone Senior Classes Added to Route 66 Series at Mid-State Raceway |

The Margay/Bridgestone Route 66 Sprint Series presented by L&T Manufacturing and Russell Karting Specialties will be holding the final event of 2012 at the historic Mid-State Raceway near Springfield, IL on October 6th and 7th. Clone Senior classes have been added each day. On Saturday there will be a special Clone Senior class money race. Clones will have a regular practice group with Saturday morning practice rounds. Clones will draw for position and have two heat races and a possible last chance race depending on the number of entries. The heat races will be 14 laps and the feature will be 25 laps. The payout will be $250 for first place, $125 for second place and $75 for third place plus trophies for the top three. The Clone Senior class will also race on Sunday in the regular program for trophies. The entry fee is $75.00 for the Saturday money race and $60.00 for Sunday or $120.00 for both classes.
WKA Tech rules with the ARC #6619 Flywheel will be enforced for the Clone Senior class. Class weight is 360 pounds. Spec Fuel for this event must be purchased from the Springfield Shell gas station located on Clear Lake Avenue in front of the K-Mart, across the street from Crossroads Ford at I-55 Exit #98. Gas should be purchased from pump number 3 only (87 Octane). CIK noses only (no full noses allowed). For this race you can run 4-cycle style side nerf bars or CIK side pods. Rear bumper rule will not be enforced. Mike Everson is the tech man for the series, so be prepared for thorough post-race inspections. Karts must also pass WKA safety Tech. Bridgestone YLC tires, 4.50 fronts on standard rims, and 6.00 or 7.10 rears are required. Must utilize the same tire on the left and right side on standard rims. Any Bridgestone rain tire are allowed in wet conditions. NO LAYDOWN SEATS! Must pass WKA Sprint tech rules. Entry forms are available on the Route 66 Series web site. Write Clone on the entry forms and send them in today or enter at the track.
Mid-State Kart Club (MSKC) will have trailer parking and practice available on Friday October 5th. The gates for trailer parking will open at 8:30 a.m. on Friday with practice starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m. Safety tech and pre-registration pick up will be available on Friday afternoon. Just a reminder that if you enter all seven of the Route 66 Sprint Series events this season, you will receive 22 bonus points for your class season points total. On Saturday evening, MSKC will host a cook out featuring "Turasky's pork chops", baked beans, butter corn soup, coleslaw and desert.
