Series News: IKF Region 6 Northwest Gold Cup - Greg Moore Raceway Preview

After a short break to allow drivers and teams time to compete in IKF and ROTAX Grand National action, the Northwest Gold Cup Series will continue it’s northern swing and trek across the border into Canada . Round five of the six event series will stop in Chilliwack , B.C. to visit the Greg Moore Raceway. Greg Moore Raceway is one of the premier stops on the series with its second to none racing facilities and always professional staff. The race track is without question a perfect blend of driver and horsepower, with its 12 turn layout that includes twists and turns for the driver and long front chute and transition for the engine builder. It is a perfect blend of the two and provides ample room for two wide racing just about anywhere, always providing awesome racing action.

The best of both Canadian and U.S. drivers will be on hand to compete and showcase their talents in what has been touted as one of the toughest regions for both IKF and ROTAX competition in the nation. “Its been a long break I think we all are looking forward to getting back into the racing groove for these final two stops of the series” said IKF region six coordinator and NW Rotax series director Bill Hettick. Hettick went on to say, “We’re really hoping that the series competitors get on board and really support the series in these last two events; the support in 2012 has been great by our competitors and we’d really like to see the series finish strong going into 2013”. All current IKF and ROTAX classes will be run depending on numbers and as always will be governed by the current rules docket in both sanctioning bodies.

Many of the series regulars went back to run the ROTAX nationals held last week Illinois, and faired quite well with series regular Johnny “The Sliver” Blair taking home a national championship in the Masters division and earning a spot on the U.S. team that is headed to Portugal for the world championships, and karting standout Joey Whimsett taking the ROTAX DD2 national Championship, both of these national champions call the Northwest home with Blair being series regular in 2012. Several classes have very close point battles going on and will come down to these last two events to decide regional champions.

The final stop on the series will be in Spokane , WA the first weekend in September. There is all day practice Friday August 17th and two days of awesome regional race action on Saturday August 18 and Sunday August 19, with gates both days opening at 7am, drivers meeting at 8am and first practice scheduled for 9am sharp. For more information you can go to http://www.nwgoldcup.com. There you will find a complete run down for the series event including hotel accommodations, authorized fuel stations, as well as local dining and going ons. The Northwest Gold Cup/RotaxMax Challenge series is looking forward to seeing you there!
