| Norm DeBoever Inducted Into WKA Hall of Fame |

On the heels of Michael Davis’s induction into the World Karting Association Hall of Fame last month during the Road Race Grand Nationals at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, another longtime karting supporter was enshrined during the MKP Nationals this past weekend at Michiana Raceway Park as South Bend, Indiana’s Norm DeBoever joined a long list of illustrious figures who have spent the better part of their life supporting the sport they so dearly treasure.
With his wife, Pat, as well as many members of his family joining the surprise announcement during the Saturday morning drivers meeting for the MKP Nationals, WKA President Rick Dresang and MRP’s Garry Lobaugh noted the list of key achievements that accompanied DeBoever, dating back to 1959.
At that time, Norm was the first employee hired by Lloyd Milliken, working for a company known as Michiana Midget Motors. For the next two decades, Norm won many championships in a variety of karting categories, many times racing six nights a week.
Some 20 years following his hire in 1959, the company started a business known as Target Distributing, a company which DeBoever would later purchase in 1989.
Norm has been an importer/distributor, as well as a manufacturer of karts, mini-bikes and plastic products such as seats and karting bodyworks. From 1959 to the very present, Norm DeBoever has continued to be a strong advocate of the karting industry, through sponsorships, providing product to WKA for year-end awards banquets, not to mention his annual barbecue, which again will be held this Friday evening at MRP during the Animal Heavy Money Race for the RLV Tuned Exhaust Products Gold Cup Series as part of the kickoff to the Baker Racing Engines Nationals, stop No. 3 on the five-race schedule for the Gold Cup Series.
WKA salutes both Michael Davis and his 2012 fellow inductee Norm DeBoever, two very special people whose names now adorn the walls of WKA with the many other recipients of this great award.
Minimum Speedway Pavement Sportsman 1 age is 7
07.10.2012 (CONCORD, N.C.) – The minimum age for Sportsman 1 flat-kart and Sportsman 1 Champ at next month’s Speedway Pavement Grand Nationals at Chapel Hill (N.Y.) Raceway is 7.
The WKA website and Tech Manual listed the minimum age as 8 in these divisions, however, it is a misprint and the minimum age is 7. The Pavement Series Class Rules web page has been fixed to reflect this.
Pre-registration for the Aug. 10-12 event is open until Friday, July 27.
