| US Rotax Max Challenge Series Profile: Pitt Race Karting Series |
| |
In cooperation with MAXSpeed Group, the administrator of the United States Rotax Max Challenge program, eKartingNews.com is happy to introduce the ‘US Rotax Max Challenge Series Profile’. Each month, EKN will profile one of the many Rotax series in the United States. Included in these regular overviews will be where each series races, who is racing there, and how you can become part of their program. Each US Rotax Max Challenge Series is a qualifying program toward the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals.
The 2012 season marks another year of expansion of the United States Rotax Max Challenge, adding new series to the official program. One of the new programs to be added is the Pitt Race Karting Series, based at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania. Formula known as the BeaveRun Motorsports Complex, the 8/10-mile course was constructed in 2002 and has hosted a number of national and regional events in its 10-year history. While it has seen Rotax racing, the Pitt Race Karting Series has now established itself as an official US Rotax Max Challenge program.
Located north of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, the Pitt Race Kart Series is convenient for Rotaxians in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. Rotax racing has been done before at the facility. Years ago, Rotax Max Challenge dates were held there but this is the first season run under the Pitt Race Karting Series banner.
“The biggest factor for us to add a Rotax Series was internal,” stated Pitt Race Karting Series director Dan Schlossor. “We had a core of eight Junior families that moved to Senior within a year that liked the idea of running similar equipment like they were used to in Yamaha. They asked if we would consider adding and promoting the Rotax program. The timing was perfect as we were looking for a way to introduce the Rotax program already.”
Currently, the Pitt Race Karting Series has seen nine drivers compete in the Senior Max division in the first four events of the season. Robert Bujdoso is the current point leader with three straight wins. Bujdoso hails from Ohio and is a four-time WKA TaG champion, currently ranked second in the EKN TaG Driver Rankings. Ayrton Mutagaana sits second in the PRKS standings with Ayrton Climo in third. Through the first four events, Theo Chick was the lone Mini Max driver.
Pitt Race Karting Series is hoping to attract more Rotax drivers for the final two events of the year - September 9 and September 23 - and for the 2013 season.
