Industry News: Ogden USA Drivers Victorious at JET Karting Rotax Summer Shootout

Descending on the Jet Karting facility at Michiana Raceway Park in North Liberty, Indiana, Ogden USA powered drivers would show their speed in the annual event leading up to the prestigious United States Rotax Grand Nationals. Known as the official test weekend where some of the nation's top pilots compete, Indiana driver Jack Miller and Florida resident Kyle Kirkwood would add to Ogden USA's 2012 win total and gain momentum heading into the second half of the season.

Competing in the Rotax Micro Max division, Indiana resident Jack Miller was the dominant driver during Saturday's racing action. Scoring the pole position, heat race win and main event victory, Miller did it all in fine form scoring the fastest lap time of each on track session. Setting a new track record in qualifying by pacing the field by nearly one second, Miller reset track record in the prefinal en route to his victory and then dominated the main event topping the blocks a half a lap ahead of his closest competition.

"Jack was really on his game this weekend," expressed Ogden USA Engine Builder Paul Howard. "Always wanting to go faster and beat the competition by a greater margin, he and his team worked tirelessly to keep improving his chassis and engine combination. He is the sign of true champion - a future star in the world of motorsports and he will be tough to beat here in August."

Florida Winter Tour TaG Junior champion and Rotax Junior front-runner Kyle Kirkwood performed a similar feat to that of Miller. After having a disappointing result on Saturday, Sunday was a new day for Kirkwood as he qualified on the pole position with a new track record and claiming top honors in the prefinal, Kirkwood went on to score a big main event victory as he looks forward to the opportunity to try and earn a position on Team USA in August.

Evan Mehan flexed his muscles in the talent-laden Rotax Senior field by pacing the morning qualifying session in Sunday's racing action. Falling one position in the prefinal to finish second, Mehan looked as if he would have a shot at the victory before an incident with two laps remaining while running second in the main event took him out of contention. Mehan will be back with a point to prove during August's Rotax Grand Nationals.

Two other Ogden USA powered drivers were also in competition in northern Indiana as Roger Ralston and Jack Weprin would see action in Rotax Senior and Rotax Junior respectively. Looking to get a handle on the tricky Jet Karting facility throughout the Shootout event, Weprin would continue to improve his skills and race craft scoring a solid top ten result over the weekend. Ralston, Ogden USA's newest driver, would battle tough in the Senior ranks and come home with a sixth place result.

Driver Coach Jay Howard also added, "We came to event looking to first test for the upcoming race and secondly, to score solid results. The Rotax Summer Shootout is a great way to get the nation's top drivers together in a race atmosphere leading up to one of the biggest events of the year in the United States. As a driver, we always want to win but this weekend was more for getting familiar with the facility, passing zones, chassis setup and gathering data to ensure we are on top of our game when we come back in August. Congrats to all Ogden USA drivers for a successful weekend."

With engines leases available for the upcoming United States Rotax Grand Nationals, interested parties are urged to contact Ogden USA as soon as possible.
