A busy week for Robert Bujdoso concluded Monday in Joliet, Illinois, after running both a karting event and an ARCA test session. The weekend ended with a first and a third place result in GLSS (Great Lakes Sprint Series) action. He continued Monday with an impressive 1.5 mile oval debut.
After testing for the upcoming WKA (World Karting Association), the Canfield native pressed on through Sunday night to partake in an official ARCA test session at Chicagoland Speedway. Bujdoso transitioned well showing quick pace in his first outing in an ARCA car since late 2011. Robert’s pace was also impressive, considering the team lost valuable practice team transitioning a short track car to the large banks of Chicagoland Speedway. Bujdoso made the most of his new #91 Roush Ford Fusion, running consistent competitive times.
“It feels great to be back behind the wheel of an ARCA car. It was fantastic to reunite with Todd Bowsher and his team. The first few sessions were a great refresher, and then getting to run consistent competitive times later in the day made the test just that much better.”
Roby has accumulated five championships, three vice-championships, 28 podiums and 7 national victories in his 11 year karting career. In the transition to racecars, he has complete the Skip Barber, Bertil Roos, and SCCA schools. Bujdoso would later contest in a Formula Atlantic and a Andy Belmont prepared ARCA car where he would be awarded the “Hard Charger Award” in his ARCA debut finishing 15th. The young racer continues to strive towards his goal of becoming a professional racecar driver and will look to make the transition into cars for his 2012-2013 campaign.
