Team News: CRG-USA Completes Busy Month in Rocky Mountain Region

The CRG-USA race team was kept busy during the month of May. Over the course of four weeks, the Grand Junction, Colorado operation contested the opening two events of the Superkarts! USA Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge. The first on May 5-6 was held at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway with the second on June 2-3 at the Miller Motorsports Park. With a diverse roster under the tent, the operation continues to show why the CRG brand is the best in the sport with multiple victories and podium finishes over the two weekends.

The opening round of the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge took place at the home of CRG-USA, the Grand Junction Motor Speedway in western Colorado. With a total of seven victories and numerous podium finishes, the weekend was a solid success. Mianna Wick and Jet Davis led all CRG-USA drivers with two victories in their respective classes. Wick opened up her first regional weekend in the S5 Junior Stock Moto class with two trips to the top of the podium while Davis bested a strong S4 Master Stock Moto field both days. Ryan Rudolph battled engine issues all weekend, placing second behind Wick both days. Scott Allen joined Davis in S4, standing third at the end of the feature after rounds one and two.

In the S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto category, Sabré Cook earned her first win of the season on Sunday. Cook was leading on Saturday until contact dropped her to third in the feature race. Jack Bradley ran to a podium finish on both days, placing second and third as Ben Schermerhorn ran fourth Saturday and Sunday. New CRG-USA race team member Kyle Hathcox made his S1 Pro Stock Moto debut aboard a CRG chassis. Familiarizing himself with the new ride, Hathcox finished fourth and fifth on the weekend, improving his pace each time out.

Utah driver Austin Versteeg made his first trip to the Grand Junction circuit with CRG-USA race team, earning the win in TaG Junior on Sunday. On Saturday, Versteeg was leading on the final lap but contact dropped him to the runner-up position. Riley Cook matched his cousin’s results in the TaG Cadet class. Finishing second for round one, he came back to win the feature for round two. Tristin MacLeod ran third both days while Cody Dempster was runner-up on Sunday. Dempster also recorded finishes of second and fourth in the local option Mini Max category.

Just four weeks later, the CRG-USA operation packed up and headed west to the Miller Motorsports Park for rounds three and four of the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge. The event was also a warm-up for the upcoming SKUSA SummerNationals in Tooele, Utah with a number of drivers from outside the region traveling in to compete. CRG drivers gained a number of victories and podiums over the weekend, including those running with CRG-USA.

Mianna Wick continued her development in the S5 Junior Stock Moto category with a win on day one over the current SKUSA Pro Tour championship leader. Wick was performing just as strong on Sunday until a mechanical issue sidelined her during the main event. Fellow CRG-USA S5 driver Ryan Rudolph stood on the podium both days, placing third and second. Cody Dempster contested just the round four action, earning two podium finishes in the process. Dempster ran to third in the TaG Cadet category. Running the local option Mini Max division, Dempster scored another third place finish. Tristin Macleod placed third in TaG Cadet for round three, finishing up the weekend in fourth for round four. Riley Cook capped off the Cadet racers with two top-five for two days of work. TaG Junior saw a stout field in Utah with 10 drivers. CRG-USA driver Austin Versteeg place sixth in both main events but still continues to lead the championship standings.

Ben Schermerhorn, Jack Bradley and Tyler Tibbetts rounded out the CRG-USA S2 driver roster, all improving their pace as the weekend progressed. The S4 Master Stock Moto contingent for the CRG race team all came away with positives on the weekend. Scott Allen drove to a podium finish on Saturday, placing third, while David Conyers did the same on Sunday. Two top-five finishes over the two days helped Jet Davis continue to lead the championship standings.
