| Industry News: P1 Engines Continues Stellar Results in IKF Region 7 Action |
| |
Heading to Perris, California for the third round in the International Kart Federation (IKF) Region 7 program, P1 Engines would look to keep the momentum rolling for their national karting campaign. After taking multiple high profile victories in the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturers Cup program as well as the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour, P1 Engines continued their winning ways this past weekend with three victories, three pole positions and fifteen top five results.
Providing victories for the California based engine company were youngsters Nick Ramirez, Hunter Corbit and Noah Garza. While all three competed in multiple divisions, they all managed to top the blocks at least one this race weekend and continue P1 Engines impressive results.
After missing all of Friday's practice sessions, Ramirez would see action in KPV 2, KPV2 Heavy and the PRD Junior 2 divisions throughout the weekend. With his race win coming in the KPV2 Heavy class, Ramirez was nearly untouchable as he went on to take the pole position and main event victory. Challenging for the win in the competitive KPV2 category, Ramirez was in contention for the win before contact in the heat race sent him to the tail of the field. Starting towards the rear in the main event, Ramirez showed why he is a champion of the sport as he sliced and diced his way through the pack to score a third place podium result.
Also seeing action in the PRD Junior 2 class, Ramirez looked as if he would once again be the guy to beat. After a slight miscue in qualifying left him with the third quickest lap time, Ramirez drove forward in the heat race to take the win. Looking to repeat in the main event, the talented youngster would fall slightly and cross the stripe in the fourth position.
P1 Engines powered Hunter Corbit stood atop the podium in the PRD Junior 1 class after moving forward from his second place qualifying effort. Looking to repeat his efforts in the KPV1 class, Corbit started the day off on the right foot scoring the elusive pole position. Looking poised for his second victory of the weekend, Corbit led the main event but would eventually come home in the second position. Adding to his two podium results, Hunter Corbit would also claim the fourth position in the KPV Heavy class.
Scoring the pole position and providing P1 Engines with the entire front row in the KPV1 class was Jackson Logsdon. Progressing through the heat race nicely, Logsdon would be sent to the tail of the field before the main event would begin for failing to report to post race technical inspection. Angry at the mistake, Logsdon drove forward from his 17th place starting position to come home fifth.
P1 Engines driver Noah Garza would see action in both the KPV1 and PRD Junior 1 classes and would qualifying both of his rides in the fourth position. Looking to move forward throughout the day, Garza managed to pull off a big win in the KPV1 class, giving P1 Engines another victory in IKF competition.
Jaden Geotz had a great run in Kid Kart class qualifying 4th and finishing 3rd over all.
"These events are great," expressed P1 Engines Jesus Vasquez. "I am able to showcase that P1 Engines can build race winning engine packages from the Kid Kart ranks all the way through to the ultra competitive multi-engine TaG platform on the national level."
P1 Engines would like to congratulate P1 powered drivers Phil De La O and current eKartingNews.com Driver of the Month Mason Chelootz, as well as all of their drivers at the IKF Region 7, WKA Manufacturer's Cup and the SKUSA Pro Tour.
Next on the docket for P1 Engines will be the International Kart Federation 2-cycle Gran Nationals in Fresno, California.
