For fans of the legendary Indianapolis 500, the celebration starts way before the green flag drops. In 2012, a brand-new, must-attend event emerges this Thursday, May 24. The Yellow Party, presented by DHL, (formerly #beatcancer Bash) is an IndyCar-focused, fundraising event aimed at raising awareness and donations for the fight against childhood cancer.

Hosted by non-profit organization Racing For Cancer, and working together with Racing For Kids and local charity The Little Red Door Cancer Agency, The Yellow Party will take place at the One America building in downtown Indianapolis.

The evening will offer a variety of unique features, including the opportunity for fans to mingle with more than 20 of the sport’s hottest drivers. Attendees will also experience “The Greatest Spectacle in Silent Auctions.” Great food, special surprises and live music from Indy’s own live band, Living Proof will make the event unforgettable for those in attendance.

One unique Item that will be on hand is the custom kart racing suit that was manufactured by K1 RaceGear exclusively for IZOD Indy Car Driver Townsend Bell for the Red Bull Kart fight at PRI in 2011. This unique suit was designed as a tribute to his late friend Dan Wheldon, to which Townsend had all of the pro drivers at the event sign the suit for him. In the photo here you can see X-Games Gold Medalist and Rally Car Champion Tanner Foust signing the suit for Bell.

VIP ticket holders will start the evening with an exclusive cocktail hour with special guest IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard and several of the IZOD IndyCar drivers. In addition, the VIP ticket also gets fans a ride in the Indy Racing Experience two-seater through the streets of downtown Indianapolis.

“We can’t wait for Thursday,” said Racing For Cancer CEO Tom Vossman. “Obviously it’s exciting to be connected to the Indy 500, the single largest one-day sporting event in the world. And since we’re raising funds for the global fight against childhood cancer, this gives us a chance to raise awareness as well. I want to thank all of the sponsors, teams, drivers and fans who have already stepped up to help. We look forward to achieving our goal of fighting cancer by making The Yellow Party one of the biggest off-track events every year in May.”

Tickets are still available, although the VIP option is almost sold out. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit http://www.TheYellowParty.org
