Driver News: Kyle Kirkwood Set to Race in Kings Cup
Walldinger Racing Scholarship winner Kyle Kirkwood will race in tonight’s Fourth Annual King’s Cup – an indoor karting charity event benefitting Paralyzed Veterans of America. Held at Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte, North Carolina, 20 teams will compete in two heat races to transfer into the main event – the King’s Cup shootout – for an opportunity to hoist the coveted trophy.

The King’s Cup will see Kirkwood race against AJ Allmendinger for the first time with Allmendinger competing for Shell Racing and Kirkwood representing Walldinger Racing – both sponsors of the popular event. Allmendinger’s Penske Racing Sprint Cup teammate Brad Keselowski will also take part as well as several other NASCAR stars.

“I think this will be a fun event, and I’m looking forward to meeting some of the people with PVA that will be on hand,” said Kirkwood. “I know that this something that AJ is really dedicated to, so I’m really happy he invited me to be a part of it. I just hope he doesn’t expect me to let him win!”

Activities kick off tonight at 5:00 PM (ET) with green flag racing beginning at 5:30 PM (ET). The King’s Cup – Karting for a Cause has raised over $400,000 for Paralyzed Veterans since it began in 2009.
