The weekend of May 4-6th saw the IKF Region 7 series heading to the Willow Springs kart track in Rosamond, CA. Travis was competing in the two highly competitive senior classes: Tag Sr. and PRD Sr. As always the Willow Springs circuit welcomed all racers with some strong winds throughout the event. Travis was looking to defend his championship lead in Tag Sr. and move up into the title fight in the PRD Sr. class.

Friday’s practice sessions were promising as Travis aboard his BRK Energy kart focused on Tag Sr. and were strong throughout the entire day. As soon as some new rubber was put onto the kart Travis was consistently seen at the top of each session and worked throughout the day to keep it that way. At the end of the day Travis saw himself at the top of the charts a few tenths ahead of the next competitor.

When the following day started his speed was a little off and kept slowing down through the mornings practice sessions. During qualifying the issue would come ahead when Travis lost a great deal amount of power and would qualify 6th with a bad coil. After the coil was replaced Travis headed out for Heat 1 and the speed he had showed on Friday had returned. Travis set fast lap of the heat by two tenths of a second and moved up into 3rd place right behind the leaders. Heat two saw Travis move up into 2nd place and finish right behind the leader setting the starting grid for the main. Before the green flag flew on the main event Travis was moved back one row due to a couple starts that were deemed “bad” and had to start in 4th. At the finish of the first lap Travis had moved up into 3rd and on the following lap made the move for 2nd. Wasting no time Travis made the move for the lead on the very next lap and never looked back on his way to his second straight IKF Tag Sr. victory.

The following day Travis was competing in the PRD Sr. class and the first practice session was the first time he had practiced the PRD all weekend with the different tires. After the two morning practice sessions Travis was three tenths off the pace. After some new tires and a few minor changes they headed off to qualifying and were able to grab pole by two tenths of a second. Heat 1 saw Travis fall back to second on the start but by the end of lap 1 he was able to move back up into the lead and finished with a 1.5 second lead. Travis went flag to flag in heat 2 again and ended up with a 3 second lead ahead of Lloyd Mack. At the drop of the green for the main Lloyd Mack would get the jump but Travis would bide his time and on lap 4 would make his move for the lead and pulled away to a 2.5 second lead by the finish over Lloyd Mack and Alejo Fernandez.

Round 2 of the IKF Region 7 Super series was a successful one for Travis seeing him walk away with two victories. There will be on-board video of each race and photos from the event posted on his Facebook fan page and YouTube channel, TravisLoweRacing, shortly.

Travis would like to thank all his current sponsors who made this possible throughout their continued support: Barstow Electric, Buddy Rice Karting, D Power Racing Engines, Energy Corse, Osiris, OMP, his amazing mechanic David Lowe, and of course his mother, father, family, and friends.
