Superkarts! USA Readies for Opening Midwest ProKart Challenge Event
Article by: Superkarts! USA

On May 18-20, a new era begins for Superkarts! USA in the Great Lakes region, as a revamped Midwest ProKart Challenge series will get the 2012 season underway. The famous TNT Kartways in West Quincy, Missouri will be the site of Rounds 1 and 2 over the weekend to begin a trio of double-race events for the summer months. Racers from Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin, Arkansas and Kansas are already registered to contest the 4/10-mile course this weekend.

The TNT Kartways has over 50 years of history in the sport of karting. The facility has played host to many major national events during its time, operated by the famous Traeder family. The 2012 Midwest ProKart Challenge will travel to three different tracks in three different states for the series. Each weekend provides a full day of practice on Friday, when teams will move in for the weekend. The track this weekend will be opened from 8am until sundown, hosted by TNT Kartways. Saturday and Sunday will each host a round of racing that includes ample track time for all competitors, featuring two practice sessions, qualifying, two heat races and a main event. With the opening round set for TNT Kartways this weekend, the series will then travel to another historic facility -- Road America -- to contest Rounds 3 and 4 on the Briggs and Stratton Motorplex circuit on July 6-8 in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The series finale weekend is set for August 17-19 at the popular New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana. There the crowned champions in each category will earn their guaranteed starting position in the SuperSunday main event at the SKUSA SuperNationals XVI in Las Vegas -- as will all ProKart Challenge regional champions for Superkarts! USA this season.

Stan Bryniarski, SKUSA National Operations Director, has the task of directing the Midwest ProKart Challenge series for 2012. A native of the Midwest, Stan will be focusing on rejuvenating the SKUSA-style mentality this season. “It’s great to be working with the outstanding karting community here in the Great Lakes region once again. This is where the organization’s foundation began, and we need to rebuild this region into something bigger to continue on as the leader in shifterkart and TaG competition. Our season offers up a very diverse track schedule, and each weekend will offer the most track time of any program in the area.”

The full Superkarts! USA class structure will be available throughout the season, including S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, TaG Senior, TaG Master, TaG Junior and TaG Cadet. A local option ‘Open Shifter’ category will be available for ICC and Mod-Moto drivers, so they may once again experience the fun and excitement that is SKUSA racing. Entering the weekend, the TaG Senior and S5 Junior Stock Moto categories appear to hold the highest pre-entry numbers. TaG Senior will be sponsored this season by Kart Star Motorsports in Wisconsin, and S5 is supported by JD Byrider Racing of Indiana. During the podium celebrations, a free entry to Rounds 3 and 4 will be raffled off, along with a new set of MG Tires.

Additional class sponsorships are still available, but time is running short! Interested parties should contact Stan at stan@superkartsusa.com.
