| Indoor Karting: Grand Prix New York - Ironman Series Round 3 Report |
| |
April 24, Grand Prix NY held its third round of Ironman races and with 25 competitors in two separate races it was a great evening of racing. In the early race there were 17 racers in three separate classes – two weight classes in the 9hp Sodi’s and two classes of the new GT-5 Sodi karts.
In qualifying, Ennis Bragg topped the charts to take pole while Gene Thayer nailed down second just ahead of Andrew Wood. In the heavy class, Dave Harmon was quickest and fourth on the grid just ahead of Adrian Salageanu and Bill Strachan. In the GT5 class, Ralph Whitehead was quickest. At the end, Bragg was able to pull away and dominate the field as Wood and Thayer battled behind him. Cory Rossi, who took a penalty and switched karts was able to work his way through the field to take the heavy win, with Salageanu just a few ticks behind him. Whitehead was dominant in the GT-5 class.
The next round of the Ironman series is set to take place on May 8. |
