| Series News: 2012 New Jersey Sprint Series Readies for Opening Round |
| |
With less than a month before the opening round of the New Jersey Sprint Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park on June 1-3, 2012 we want everyone know what is new for the 2012 season.
Grand Products from Bensalem PA, the importer of Top Kart, Bridgestone and Comer is the presenting sponsor for the 2012 season. This is great for the series and the competitors who will compete for year-end merchandise and awards. Mike Tetreault, President of Grand Products states, “We are local to the series and many of the racers are customers of Grand Products, the NJSS is one of the best WKA divisional series in the country and we want to be part of it.” Grand Products can be reached by phone at 215-244-1940.
This season all classes are going to qualify for starting positions. Qualifying will be done either by on board data accusation system or when available with transponders. Qualifying will be done as if it were a WKA Manufacturers Cup event. This will give our many national competitors practice at this crucial point in their national program as well as let our regular divisional racers the chance to hone their skills. This will enable us to lengthen the laps for the feature events. Length of Pre-finals and finals will be determined at each individual track.
Each class will be run counting your best 7 of 10 finishes. NJSS will no longer have Lite and Heavy divisions. Each class will be run as one class going for one championship. National transfer points will be awarded on Saturday for all national lite classes and Sunday for all national heavy classes.
The following classes will be required to run the same set of tires for the entire weekend. That means the tires that you qualify on Saturday must remain on your kart for all pre-final and Finals on Saturday and for qualifying, pre-final and final on Sunday. (Sunday morning practice can be on any tire)
Yamaha Rookie Sportsman
Cadet Sportsman
Yamaha Sportsman
RP Junior Sportsman

Komet Junior
PRD Senior
For any karter who just shows up to race on Sunday only, If you choose to be on new tires come qualifying you will have to start last in the pre-final no matter what position your qualify time puts you in.
TAG MASTERS: TAG Masters tires for the 2012 season are any Bridgestone “C” compound, MG HZ Red, Hoosier R60(A), MOJO D2, Vega SL3 or Dunlop SL4. Please note that this is different than what WKA Man Cup uses.
NJSS would also like to thank all the confirmed sponsors for 2012:
