WKA Manufacturers Cup Round Three This Weekend at Pittsburgh
Article by: WKA PitBoard

The WKA Mazda / Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series is back in action this weekend with the CRG America Nationals at Wampum, Pennsylvania's Pittsburgh Int'l Race Complex, the popular western Pa., venue formerly known as BeaveRun.

The fast, technical and tricky 0.8-mile Wilson Circuit at Pitt Race will play host to what's expected to be another terrific turnout for the third round of WKA's 2012 Man Cup national tour.

The track should be plenty "racey" enough when practice kicks off Friday morning. The Great Lakes Sprint Series, one of the country's top WKA divisional circuits, kicked off its 2012 season this past weekend at Pittsburgh, where a strong contingent of teams showed up to race for Great Lakes points, WKA Man Cup divisional series bonuses and gain track time for this weekend's big CRG America Nationals.

After a cool weekend for the Great Lakes opener, temperatures are expected to be very pleasant this weekend with the Wampum area's highs predicted in the mid- to upper-70s.

Twenty national main events plus kid kart exhibitions will lead Saturday and Sunday's charge. Eleven of those divisions will go off Saturday before the weekend concludes with nine races Sunday. After a full day of Friday practice, all classes will get one round of practice, a qualifying session, pre-final and final Saturday and Sunday.

King George Speedway to host first Speedway Pavement Super Regional this weekend
The wheels of the newly designed Speedway Pavement program continue to roll in a positive direction for 2012 with the first of what will be six Super Regional events, the first being at King George Speedway in Virginia this Saturday, May 5.

Fresh off of their first divisional event a few weeks ago, competitors will now run for double points in their respective divisions, with the winners guaranteed starting spots for the August 10-12 Grand National Championships at Chapel Hill Raceway in Great Valley, New York. While the winners will be locked into the GN event, the August championship race is open to ALL competitors on that weekend.

King George joins Chapel Hill and Riverhead Raceways, Poughkeepsie Speedway, and Oakland Valley Raceway Park, all in New York, as well as Sandy Hook Speedway in Maryland, as participants in the 2012 program, geared towards finding the next national champion in each class.

Race 1 found the following drivers in victory lane.
