Kyle Smith will be heading three hours west of his hometown of State College, PA to compete in the CRG America Nationals at Pittsburgh International Race Complex.

Smith, known around the paddock as a honor roll student, missed his first WKA race in years in March when he had to attend a conference for his move to Germany in August, in which he will complete 12th grade as an exchange student.

Smith, only in his second season in the senior category, has scored 5 podiums since the move including at last year's CRG America Nationals. In his first race of the season at Daytona, Smith battled adverse conditions to come home with a podium in Leopard. At the same time logging in two top 8 finishes in the remaining TaG classes.

Being out of the seat since Daytona, Smith competed in the Great Lakes Sprint Series in Pittsburgh last weekend, sweeping every class. Smith looks to build on this momentum as he attends his second WKA race of 2012.

Kyle Smith will compete in both TaG divisions on his Cook racing engines Rok TT powered Mxk8, while he will compete in Leopard again aboard a PCR Mxk8, this time powered by a Comet racing engines Parilla Leopard.

“I look forward to building off the incredible success we had at the GLSS (Great Lakes Sprint Series), not only for my program, but that of the entire PCR team, winning 9 of the 13 finals. I believe we have all the tools to improve on last year’s 2nd place finish at Pittsburgh Int’l. It is unfortunate that I cannot run for the points championship this year because of my exchange, however that means I can focus on every race as it comes. I want to thank everyone on the team for the preparations over the past couple weeks, and I look forward to working with them once again come May 3rd!” said Smith.

Kyle would like to thank the following people. Everyone at Checkered Motorsports/PCR Distribution and specifically Csaba Budjoso and Doru Stoia, everyone at Comet Kart Sales and Racing Engines, Sean Cook, Jeff Smith, and his family for their support.
