Sport Karting News: Endurance Karting 24 Hours of America to Have International Flavor, High Competition

Twenty-five teams will participate in the 4th annual 24 Hours of America kart race hosted by Endurance Karting May 4-6, 2012 Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord. Drivers are coming from as far away as England, Mexico, Switzerland, France, Germany, Bahrain, California, Vermont, Illinois, Florida, Alabama and numerous other locations. Three teams are based in North Carolina.

Spectators are welcome to take in the action. Fans are asked to sign in with security at the at the turn three tunnel. For those unable to visit Charlotte Motor Speedway, a race monitor will be available at http://www.EnduranceKarting.com/24hoursofamerica/results.asp

All karts are provided by Huntersville’s Endurance Karting, creating the most equal competition possible. Teams’ success will be based on skill, strategy, and well-executed driver changes. Endurance Karting handles all the mechanical work and fueling, as teams are not allowed to make any changes to their karts aside from the steering wheel. Drivers are allowed a maximum 45-minute driving stint and must incorporate fuel stops and two mechanical stops. Adjustments to lap count will be made to compensate for average weight variances between the teams at midnight, with laps being added or taken away based pounds over or under a set weight median.

Competition is for the overall win as well as placing within the following class divisions: GT1 (Rookie), GTSemiPro, GTPro, GT40, GT40Pro, GT50Pro, and GTBigBoy. The Pro class is the largest class with eight teams hoping to finish on top. Team size for the Pro teams range from three to five drivers.
