| Industry News: Southern Karting Specialists Sets Up Shop at Orlando Kart Center |

The growing Southern Karting Specialists (SKS) operation has landed a permanent home for the future. Partnering up with the Orlando Kart Center, SKS has become the official kart shop of the Orlando, Florida facility. The new partnership with the OKC track also brings a new product line under the Southern Karting Specialists stable, as they become the newest Tony Kart/OTK product dealer.
Opened in 2009, the Orlando Kart Center is located just minutes from the Orlando International Airport and the many attraction destinations the city offers. Operated by karting veteran Andre Martins, the facility recently received a complete overhaul with resurfacing and new grass around the 8/10-mile course. New amenities and a refurbished rental kart fleet are available every day. Martins added, “Tony will be a great addition to the Orlando Kart Center. Not only will he bring many years of karting experience, but he can provide our local customers the ability to travel around the country with his racing team. Having SKS working out of our state-of-the-art facility on a daily basis only adds what the Orlando Kart Center can offer.”
With the move to the Orlando facility comes a transition to a new product line Southern Karting Specialists will offer in the future. The Tony Kart chassis and OTK Products will now be the focused line of SKS and its racing team in 2012 and beyond. The Tony Kart name has become one of the most important and historic brands of the karting world, earning multiple victories and championships around the world. SKS added another benefit with its move to the Orlando Kart Center, as it sits just minutes away from the OTK Kart USA headquarters - the American importer of the Tony Kart/OTK Products line.
Southern Karting Specialists principal Tony Tesoro is excited about the new direction and location after creating the business just under a year ago, “A lot has changed in the course of 12 months for me and the company. We now have a permanent home at a great facility in Orlando Kart Center that we can use to help grow our business side as well as improve our race team production. We’ve already moved members of our SKS racing team to the Tony Kart brand and we’ve found vast improvement while recording some race wins. Things are moving in the right direction for Southern Karting Specialties and our customers.”
SKS will continue to support local and regional events throughout the state of Florida, including the upcoming Florida Karting Championship Series event in Orlando on May 25-27. The SKS race team will be in full force at the Michiana Raceway Park in the coming months, in attendance for the Rotax Shootout on June 30-July 1, the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series event the following weekend, and the United States Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals on August 7-11.
