 | | Phil DeLaO and Austin Elliott |
Team Top Kart heated up Phoenix this past weekend for the opening round of the SKUSA Pro Tour taking home three victories and multiple podium results.
Phil De La O dominated the TaG Sr. category sweeping the weekend going P1 in every competitive on track session. De La O took his P1 powered Top Kart Twister to their second and third straight victories. De La O won Saturday’s final by over eight seconds & four seconds on Sunday, also laying down fast laps throughout the event as well some single lap blistering qualifying times both days. Austin Elliot also started off the season strong with a fifth place on Saturday and a third on Sunday after going from tenth to second in the prefinal. The pair made it an all Top Kart front row for Sunday’s final. Michael England continued to improve with solid results throughout the weekend. “I was glad to see positive results with all of our chassis the Twister & Speedy in Tag, also our Blue Eagle in Cadet; the conditions were very hot and our drivers & chassis stepped it up big time, I am very happy for our drivers and for Top Kart as 2012 is getting off to a great start.”Stated Michael Tetreault
Sonny Cervelli had a rough weekend that was plagued with bad luck. After qualifying fifth on Saturday two DNF’s in the heats forced him to start in the back for the final. Sonny had a great drive moving up to fourteenth from his twenty-seventh place starting position. Sonny had a much better day finishing in the sixth position on Sunday.
Hunter Corbitt showed up to win and so he did winning Saturday’s TaG Cadet Final. Hunter continued to be a threat Sunday winning both heat races giving him pole position for the final. He fought hard throughout the final, but would end up fourth when the checkers flew.
