It was race weekend number three for the Florida Karting Championship Series as drivers made their way to the 6/10th of mile track featuring eleven turns. The weather was summer like with temperatures in upper 80’s under sunny skies, drivers came from all around the state and southeast to put on some great racing. The competition level was second to none with live audio, video coverage as well as timing & scoring broadcast to a worldwide audience.
Kid Karts
The stars of tomorrow, the kid karts had another great turn out this weekend with thirteen karts in the field, Jeremy Fletcher, Chase Heffner, Lucas Rodriguez, Gabriella Ramirez, Akela, Pacitto, Ralph Hendry, Mathias Freebury, Chase Heffner, Alessandro De Tullio, Brandon Spring, Austin Hamsher, Cody Krucker, Valentino Mini all raced this past weekend. These young drivers continue work on their skills and getting prepared for the next step in karting and moving up into the junior class. It was an outstanding day of racing on Saturday for all of the kid kart drivers.
Box Stock Sr.
In the sixteen lap final twelve karts would take the green flag, we would have three lead changes between pole sitter Glen Ficher, Doug Moff and Joey Miller, in lap ten Miller would make the pass to put him in the lead. Miller the 2011 points champion would go on and get his second straight win of the season. Finishing second it was Doug Moff who heads into race four holding on the points lead and third going to Randy Balmer getting his best finish of the season. Pre final winner was Glen Ficher second going to Doug Moff and third it was Joey Miller. In qualifying Glen Ficher set fast time with 38.351

Rotax Mini Max
In the final, another good turnout with twelve karts in the field, Michael Benyahia on the pole looking like the driver to beat, but there was another driver in the field that had something to say about that, Mathias Ramirez who started outside row one, wasted no time getting to the front, by lap three he would get the lead away from Benyahia and would hold off the hard charging Olivier Bellanger, Ramirez would hold on for his first win of the season making it the third different winner in Mini Max class this season, Bellanger would finish second and third going to Benyahia getting his second third place finish of the season. In the pre final, Michael Benyahia took the win, second it was Mathias Ramirez and third going to Christian Cole. Michael Benyahia set fast time in qualifying with time of 34.642.
Rotax Micro Max
Sixteen karts took the green flag with Nicholas Brueckner on the pole who looked very strong on the day, he would get off to a good start holding the lead until the halfway point that’s when points leader Devin Boutot would make the pass coming from outside of row one and would prove to be to much for the field scoring his third straight win in three attempts. Second would go to Ian Keel matching his best finish of the season, pole sitter Brueckner would spin on lap fourteen, giving third to Aidan Keel the brother of Ian Keel. Nicholas Brueckner took the win in the pre final, with Devin Boutot picking up second and third going Ian Keel In qualifying Nicholas Brueckner, had a quick lap of 36.765.

Tony Kart factory driver Nick Neri sat on the pole for the sixteen lap final and would go wire to wire for his third straight win, Neri would cross the line over second place finisher and fellow team member, driver Andrew Evans by 8.8 seconds, giving Evans his third top five finish of the season, third it was Jonathan Kotyk who match his best finish of the season. The pre final win went to Nick Neri with Brandon Salyer taking second and third it was Jonathan Kotyk. Nick Neri set fast time in qualifying with a time of 33.199.

KPP Jr.
In the final, it would be Ashley Rogero on the pole and it was a repeat of the pre final with follow the leader, Rogero who would see Derek Sobel grabbing the lead right off the green flag drop coming from outside of row one, Sobel would hang onto the lead until the final, lap that’s when Rogero would get the lead coming off turn one and scoring her second straight win in her first two starts this season. Rogero did the exact same thing in the pre final making the late pass to get the win. Sobel finished second for the third straight time, third it was Eddie Rodriguez getting his best finish of the season.
Rotax Master
In the sixteen lap final, point leader Scott Roberts was on the pole, Roberts would check out on the field by the half way point he would have a full two second lead over the second place running Jason Heffner. Roberts would go wire to wire to secure his second win of the season, second going to Heffner and third it was John Dalton. Pre final, the winner was Scott Roberts with second going to Jason Heffner and third it was John Dalton. In qualifying, fast time went Scott Roberts with a time of 34.264.
Rotax Jr.
In the final, Oliver Askew was on the pole and was untouchable the entire race, by the halfway point he would have a 1.5 second lead and would go on for his second win of the season, coming in second it was Alex Hornborg, with the all the racing for the final podium spot between Sasha Brun-Wibaux, Dominic Tosoro and Brian Lockwood. By the time the dust would settle it would be Lockwood getting third for his best finish of the season. Oliver Askew took the win in the pre final with second going to Alex Hornborg and third it was Brian Lockwood. Oliver Askew set fast time in qualifying with a time of 32.288.
TaG
Eighteen karts took the green flag with Nick Neri on pole, Neri would have a one second lead on the field by the halfway point, and was unchallenged for the top position, Neri went on to pick up his third straight win of the season, with Tony Kart team members following him across the line, picking up second was Andrew Evans and third was Jonathan Kotyk matching his best finish of the season. Nick Neri took the win in the pre final, with second going to Jonathan Kotyk and finishing third it was Andrew Evans. In qualifying had Nick Neri quick time of 32.641.

Yamaha Jr.
Pole sitter Ashley Rogero would go wire to wire for her second straight win of the season, staying right behind her was points leader Derek Sobel who would have to settle for place getting his third top five finish and coming third it was Austin Jordan also picking up his third straight top finish. In pre final it was Ashley Rogero taking the win, second going to Derek Sobel and third it was Austin Jordan Picking up fast time in qualifying it was Ashley Rogero with a time of 35.271.
Cadet Sportsman
Nineteen karts took the green flag with local driver Seve DePinto starting on the pole, DePinto would lead early on, until lap four, that’s when Devin Boutot coming from outside row one would get the lead and then would have a nose to tail and side by side battle with DePinto, which all end in a photo finish, with Boutot getting his first win of the season, second it was DePinto and third it was Hunter Padilla scoring his best finish of the season. The pre final win went to Seve DePinto second it was Devin Boutot and third going to Hunter Padilla. In qualifying Devin Boutot set fast time with a lap of 36.907.
ICC Shifter
Chris Grektorp started on the pole and would go wire to wire for his third straight win of the season, picking up second it was Ryan Smith who would finish second for the third straight time, and third going to Brad Sanders matching his best finish of the year. Pre final win went to Chris Grektorp, taking second it was Ryan Smith and third going to Farshad Bagheri. In qualifying Ryan Smith took fast time with a time of 32.852.
Stock Moto Shifter
In the eighteen lap final, Nick Neri had the pole but elected to start from the back of the field, in the three combined classes by lap fourteen Neri would work around the entire field and would go on and get his second win of the season. Finishing second it was Richard Cormier matching his best finish of the season, third going to Mathew Sanford getting his best finish of the season. Pre final winner was Nick Neri, with Richard Cormier taking second and third going to Chris Bany. Picking up fast time in qualifying it was Nick Neri with a time of 32.361.

TaG Heavy
Twelve karts took the green flag with John Dalton on the pole, this race would see five lead changes between Dalton and Ricky Nicholas with both drivers exchanging the top spot by lap thirteen Nicholas would prove to strong for the field and would go on to get his first win of the season, second it was pints leader Dalton and third it was Matt Blair picking his best finish of the season. John Dalton took the win in the pre final and third it was Ricky Nicholas. In qualifying John Dalton took fast time with a 34.220.
TaG Jr.
Another great turnout for Tag Junior as twenty two karts took the green flag in the final, points leader Oliver Askew started on the pole and proved to be to strong for the field as he would go on to get his second straight victory of the season and third top three finish. Derek Sobel had another great run getting his best finish of the season coming in second and third went to Colin Warren who would get his second third place finish in a row. Prefinal win went to Oliver Askew, second was Sobel and taking third was Colin Warren. In qualifying Colin Warren turned quick a time of 32.714.
Yamaha Sportsman
In the sixteen lap final it was Seve DePinto starting on the pole, DePinto would be in for a big surprise, and that coming in the name of Mathias Ramirez who had to start from the back of a field due to a penalty in his pre final, by lap three Ramirez would grab the lead away from DePinto and Ramirez would go on for his second win of the season, second going to points leader Jason Yarbrough and third going to Hunter Sapp getting his best finish in his first start. The pre final win went to Seve DePinto, second it was Justin Gordon and third going to Dylan Gennaro. In qualifying Jason Yarbrough took fast time with a 37.882.
Next up will be Race #4 at Andersen RacePark in Palmetto, Florida the weekend of April 20-22. FKCS continues to be one of the longest and oldest running regional karting series in the country.
