Superkarts! USA Releases Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge Schedule
Article by: Superkarts! USA

If you were to ask the question of how to re-fire a racing program that was looking to rekindle the magic of the past, what kind of action plan do you think you would get?

You’d start with a trio of strategic locations and three non-conflicting dates. Then you’d combine an economical, customer-friendly race format with a seasoned race management staff and mix in an honest portion of the Superkarts! USA experience. The result of this potent concoction: the new Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge, headed up by SKUSA National Operations Director Stan Bryniarski.

“Tom and I first began talking about this at the SuperNationals in November, after we found out we were going to be losing our current regional manager Curt Kistler to an out-of-state job relocation. I immediately started questioning racers and shops in the Rocky Mountain Region to see what they wanted,” commented Bryniarski, the longest serving SKUSA staff member in its 18-year history. “The feedback I received focused on larger fields, prime event locations and zero date conflicts. Obviously, the economy was a common thread in all of my conversations as well. This economic deal is tough on our people, but they still want to race. And we want to give them more for their money than anyone else.”

Taking the feedback that he had gathered, Stan went to work. The end result is a trio of double-event weekends that will follow much of the successful SKUSA ProKart Challenge business model. The series will offer all of the SKUSA-sanctioned classes (detailed below), as well as a local option category for Rotax Mini Max, all of which will award points towards a series champion. These Mini Max drivers will also qualify for the same SuperNationals Priority Registration benefits that correspond with their participation in the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge (complete details will be available soon).

The Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge will run in both Colorado and Utah this year, expanding its reach to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, the home of this year’s SKUSA SummerNationals in July. The schedule’s first double-race event weekend will be held at Grand Junction Motor Speedway on May 4-6, including the Friday practice day, and kicking off what will be a great battle between drivers from Utah, Colorado and beyond. Grand Junction played host to the 2011 SKUSA SummerNats, and the SKUSA community thoroughly enjoyed the track’s unique characteristics. This year, racers will do battle on the same configuration that made last year’s Pro Tour event a course to be reckoned with.

The series will then travel to Miller Motorsports Park on June 1-3 and will run the same configuration that the Pro Tour will utilize in July. Colorado’s best will be given the chance to challenge Utah’s hot shoes on their own turf, providing an excellent testing opportunity for the SummerNationals. Following this event, it will be time to put it all on the line as the series moves to the Denver side of the mountain to tackle IMI Motorsports Complex on August 31-September 2.

“I am thrilled with the support that we’re receiving as I maintain contact with the region’s shop and teams,” Bryniarski added. “We’re working to continue the development of the Superkarts! USA program, and working closely with the industry to provide a product that helps them be successful is a key component to our strategy. To have them step up to commit to support the new Rocky Mountain PKC speak volumes for what we are going to be able to do in this region!”

CRG USA, Billet Performance Karting, Msquared Karting and Miller Motorsports Park have pledged their support for the renewed series, and all things point towards the biggest regional event in Colorado for some time. Event, class and banquet sponsor opportunities are still available. Interested parties should contact Stan Bryniarski at stan@superkartsusa.com if they wish to sign on with their support of the series and its racers. Additional regional information, as well as online race registration, will be available for these events shortly at http://www.superkartsusa.com/regional/rocky-mountain-pkc.html .
